Roger and Lilly to me are tied. Joined at the hip. Can't have one without the other.It would be an injustice and doesn't tell the truth if you put one guy above the other. Roger put this franchise on the map at a time when the Nation was still hurting. He helped morph us into America's team. That never happens without him. He was the star on the helmet. But Lilly on the defense was what Roger was on offense. He elevated the team and made them better emotionally too. They each instilled a belief we lacked before. We do not win the first SB without Lilly. We don't get to it without Roger. They catapulted this franchise and turned us into something almost mythological. Each time we hit the field after 1973, you never thought we could lose, no matter the score. So, for me, its Roger and Lilly both are 1A.

I love Roger, but Bob Lilly is probably the single most dominate player in Cowboys history. Hell, top 5 defensive tackles in NFL history too! There is a reason he known to be on the Mount Rushmore of defensive tackles.

Roger Staubach. In the 60s and early 70s, the Cowboys had had several excellent teams, but couldn't quite get over the top to win the Super Bowl. They had good quarterbacks in Don Meredith and Craig Morton, but it was when they got a great quarterback in Staubach that they were able to win the big dance.

Lilly was one in a million. A big ole country strong farm boy from Tye Texas. Didn't say much, didn't need to. Off the field, a shy small town polite gentleman. On the field, a warrior that commanded respect and raised the level of the entire defense and staff by his mere dedication and presence each practice, each play. A country boy thru and thru, that til the day he retired, thought he would get cut. He had that mentality. The right attitude for him was easy on and off the field. He didn't need to be anything other than himself. Good dude. Special player and human being. Grit was his middle name. Smart, tenacious, a finisher of top ilk. Everything Roger was on offense,off the field as well. We were blessed enough to have 2 of these guys. Wow.
