News: Marshawn Kneeland Had Stage 1 CTE

Put more money into CTE research and less into Breast Cancer. Make that the new NFL charity priority.
I mean!!! All this misdirection with breast cancer - ok, I like breasts - but dang...take care of your people!

i feel the only way to play with no CTE is no helmets.... Everyone will be protecting that head of theirs.
yeah it is kind of how Boxing became more dangerous because of boxing gloves and the ability for fighters to headhunt without the fear of breaking their hands.

My baby sister died of Brain Cancer in 2009 ...... I had a bunch of Gray Brain Matter Cancer shirts that I wore with her through the stuff ........ gave all but one to my nephew (her son) when he became a teenager ....... Cancer sucks ........ people worry about bird flu and covid meanwhile Cancer has been the real plague or our time.
It does. It’s to the point now maybe if you’re blessed or lucky to not have it you know someone who does: it’s scary. Sorry to hear about your sister: hate that.

Breast cancer affects everyone….including nfl players…
How? NFL players are not the target of that program...it's women. It's fine to use the platform for that purpose, but it comes across as cynical and manipulative when you ignore the men who allowed you to donate to said cause. It happens on the backs of some men who have CTE and the NFL has gone out of its way to say "nothing to see here"...meanwhile draping a whole stadium in pink.

It's not one vs the other...it's asking the NFL to pay the same attention to the issues impacting their players. Instead of marketing materials that dupe the credulous and thirsty virtue signalers like you.

Well that's the genesis of the concussion spotter rule, but idk how much that matters.

The link is more to years playing contact sports, so I think the greater solution is banning tackle football early on. It's stupid for 8 year olds to play tackle football.

But you can't stop kids from playing it on their own, unorganized. The only concussions I remember getting was from sandlot football.

To me having a concussion spotter is a bit like "swimming between the flags" in Australia and having shark spotters. OK great...someone spotted a shark. But there's nothing they can do to help you if a shark gets a hold of you. It does prevent others from swimming in the water ...and a concussion spotter can lessen the damage that would otherwise continue to occur if the player stayed in the game. But it's always after the fact.

The league is full of players who have had mothers or sisters or wives who have or have had Breast cancer.

So googling I see they spend a average of 20 milluon per year towards CTE research and 2-3 million on cancer…do you have different figures virtue signaler?

As usual you change the subject and the argument. Attention, Care, and yes money TOO. But money wasn't the only measure of what was being discussed.

And because you're such a reflexive simp, those "wives and sisters" probably eat off the violent collisions their MEN are facing. By rights, their needs SHOULD come first...and they should also bring awareness so other MEN aren't led to the slaughter. I noticed how "the men signed up for it" is a cop-out...but we MUST care for their wives and sisters? Thirsty virtue signaling got you making dumb arguments as usual.

I don't have time to get into it right now but this ticks me off. This should. motivate the league to establish a program that evaluates every player once a year.

Does it tick you off enough to motivate you to find a way to diagnose it while people are still alive? Unfortunately, there is no way for that to happen. It’s damage to the brain. It happens because of concussions. It’s as simple as that. We all are a part of not caring enough about what this sport does to boys, and men. We love the game enough for us to block it out. Very sad.

That's a very disturbing number. Nearly half of those who died before 30? But that's the risk players are willing to take to play contact sports. Until there is a way of diagnosing CTE or reducing the number of impactful contacts to the head this trend will likely continue.
Wonder what the numbers look like for the NHL and MMA/UFC?

You are the one that does not care about CTE as long as your can watch football

This is why you are out of your mind if you encourage your kids to play football.
I’m at that place now. My son wants to: I don’t encourage or defer him from it just help him with his jumper lol:

But yeah it’s tough.

But you do have to wonder is this a nfl problem or is this happening prior to joining the league.
