Franchise Tag Deadline is today

Lamb is our 1 or are you trying to start drama (if so I like it)
Lamb has a significant cap hit in 2027. He’ll need a new deal after this season to mitigate his expense. He’s two years older than Pickens. It may make more sense to trade Lamb. Sign Pickens.

Well, GP outperformed CeeDee last year pretty handily

CeeDee was down and GP had a career year.

I think we’ll see GP show WR1 ability again this year.

CeeDee is an excellent wide receiver but GP has some extraordinary skills and defensive coordinators have taken notice and plan for him because he can be a game breaker.
I knew you were going to say this!! Can we expect the same output as of last season? Do you feel that coordinators will roll more coverage his way to limit the big plays??

How big is the hit? Any chance of him taking a step back to let Pickens shine more to get his bag?? With that said there's no way to get out of the lamb deal, trade him and give GP the big deal??

About reading the Mark Twain novel.
I'm done with you lol lol lol lol lol

if they did, it would give the news pundits something to ramble about as usual!!!

Why can't they tell us why there's no long term extension, did he NOT do enough last season to warrant a new deal?? Doesn't have to be super long, just a few extra years that's all sheesh!! Do they expect him to act crazy soon??

you mean next season when it's more expensive or just tag him again
You need another hobby. Maybe get a girlfriend.

Saw an article allegedly from nfl coordinators and they said that teams shifted to game planning GP late in the season cause he was on fire

I certainly hope he repeats it because we’re still gonna need to score a ton of points this year to have a shot at the playoffs

This is not complicated. The Jones boys don't want to give another WR 100M in guaranteed money. The 27 million is much nicer. They'll revisit this next season depending on how this season plays out.

The smart thing to have done was give him an extension the moment they traded for him, the same way the Eagles did with AJ Brown. But that's not how the Cowboys operate. Howie with the Eagles does everything in his power to minimize the cap hit of his star players. The Jones boys couldn't care less. This is a recurring theme with them.
First, Pickens said he wasn't interested in signing a long term deal. It's not like they could have held him down and forced him to sign a team friendly deal.
Second, if they had signed him long term and he became a headcase, like some accused him of late in the season, I'm guessing you would have been one of the first in here crying about how they were so stupid to sign him long term given his history and slurping the eagles front office for something else you think they did right.

The Cowboys made the most prudent decision on Pickens they realistically could make. Nonetheless, they’re paying him $27.298 million to get another year closer to being free of the Cowboys. The 2027 tag will cost the Cowboys approximately $32.8 million, and a third tag in 2028 will be over $47 million. Pickens is actually very much in control of his future as a player. He and his agent seem to have a plan. Wonder if the Cowboys do?

The last 5 words in your paragraph is the big key to all this.
