Have you met current or former Cowboys? Good experiences? Bad?

I met Drew Bledsoe He wasn’t a cowboy yet, he told me to get a sharpie lol
And Bill Parcells, laughed
I said Bill, I love the enthusiasm, and then he smiled, he doesn’t say much
I talked to Jimmy Johnson, and Jerry Jones, in giant Stadium
They like walking in the field together before the games
It was a quick hello, love what you did to the Cowboys
They just looked up, smiled, Jerry said something, but I couldn’t make it out

That must have been a really cool experience! I've met Emmitt a couple times too and has always been the nicest guy to talk to. They say don't meet your childhood heros you'll be disappointed, but in Emmitt's case he's lived up to his legend status.
 
I met Dez Bryant.... nothing more than a pic. He was leaving a bar/restaraunt in Dallas and we came out and he was in his Bentley. Stopped, rolled down window, very gracious and took a pic. Nothing big.

On the other hand, I sat at a table watching college football with Randy Gregory for 5 house along with Duke Manyweather. Randy was damn cool to us. My daughter bought him a shot....lol. He was very stand offish at first(understandably) but after a bit, he loosened up and was pretty damn nice to us. Shared his experience at Nebraska, said he liked college better than pro. I told him we needed him, but if he left I wouldnt give 2 craps about him.... he laughed as he understood I am a fan.

Was a cool experience with him and only because of Duke did we meet him. Duke is always cool.

I know Babe Laufenberg pretty well. Super nice guy. He used to come to our games when I was still a school superintendent. I was able to spend hours talking to him. Really a good guy. I met his whole family.

Off the Cowboys, I knew Ernest Knox. His daughter went to one of the schools I worked at. I can't say enough good things about him, his daughter and the family as a whole. His daughter is a heck of an athlete, too.

I also knew Brad Dusek. His daughter was in my class. I met him and initially had no clue who he was. The name didn't connect. I was joking with him telling him that there is no acceptable reason for not being a Cowboys' fan. And then he told me his reason. I had no choice but to accept his answer. LOL His daughter, also a tremendous athlete, is a good kid.

I've met a few others but didn't have a real conversations with them.

Babe may be cool.... but I would have personally drove him out of town back in ... was it 1990? By the way, I live in ca, so it would have been a ling drive for me, but I would have been glad to do it...lol Nothing personal, Babe:0

I've been fortunate to meet quite a few Cowboys over the years. Troy Aikman, Joe Avezzano, Emmitt Smith, Philippe Sparks, and DeMarcus Ware were all class acts. Out of all of them, Philippe Sparks probably stood out the most. He was incredibly genuine and took extra time to just talk. You could tell he truly appreciated the fans.

Living in Arizona, I've run into several Cowboys players over the years. One of my favorite stories was seeing Emmitt Smith at a gas station shortly after he signed with the Cardinals. He was filling up his bright yellow Lamborghini while I was wearing a Cowboys sweatshirt. As I walked out and he walked in, I held the door open, shook my head, and just said, "Cardinals..." He smiled, laughed, and kept walking. It was a great moment.

Another funny one happened at America West Arena during an NBA All-Star Game. My buddies and I were sitting at a bar when two guys asked if they could join our table. We said, "Absolutely," not realizing who they were. About 45 minutes later, football came up in the conversation, and they introduced themselves as Seth Joyner and Simeon Rice. I laughed and told them, "I'm a huge Cowboys fan... I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave my table." They cracked up, bought us a round of shots, and we ended up watching the rest of the game together. They were both awesome, and we had a great time.

I also currently work with Billy Cundiff, which has been pretty cool.

My favorite NFL story, though, is about Mike Holmgren after the infamous "K-ball" game against Dallas. I spotted him at Sky Harbor Airport but didn't want to bother him. We ended up on the same flight, with him sitting in first class. I missed my chance to say anything until we landed. As I was walking into the restroom, he was walking out. I said, "Coach." He gave me that look like I was about to ask for an autograph, so I quickly said, "I don't want anything, I just have one question."

I asked, "Was that K-ball really wet and unbroken?"

He looked at me for a second, smiled, and said, "Cowboys fan?"

I said, "Yes."

He grinned, winked, and said, "Of course it was."

We both laughed and went our separate ways. As a lifelong Cowboys fan, that's a memory I'll never forget.

He said, "Oh, like you're doing now?" I was taken aback, and all I could say was "Huh?" but he kept cutting me off and going "huh? huh? huh?" and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "Sir, you need to pay for those first." At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually "to prevent any electrical infetterence," and then turned around and winked at me. I don't even think that's a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I wish I would have met Hurd. It snowed everywhere he went. BTW, I doubt this K9 was a drug dog.

I’ve met quite a few of them. Most notably, my family and I were at Six Flags in 2013 and met Jason Witten and his family. Super nice guy and came up and spoke with me. Also met Drew Pearson back when he was part owner of the Allen Wranglers indoor team, as well as TO when he was playing for them. Drew Pearson: super nice and took pictures and spoke with me and my son. TO: pouted the whole time as the team made him sign autographs. He kept his headphones on and spoke to no-one.

Also met Demarcus Ware and he was super nice.

Met Charles Haley at a game in 2015. Very personable. Had my then 9 year old daughter with me wearing her Romo jersey. He asked her what she would do if he came up rhe middle after her. She said "I'd step into you and make the touchdown throw". He laughed fir a good minute and wanted a picture with her.

I was once looking at buying a piece of land and in the chain of title was Bob Lilly. I saw him soon after and talked about the land with him. He was really genuine and friendly. It may have helped that I wasn’t talking about football.

Also met George Andre because his kid went to my school. I went to training camp when I was a teenager. Back then you could walk around right up to the players at the practice field. I and I spoke to Tom Landry briefly and he was not outgoing but very cordial and polite.

I met him years ago. I was working for a cable company and he was doing a promo. Really friendly. Let me try his ring on but was too big for my thumb lol I showed him a letter I got from Roger as a kid and he said he wrote letters a lot. Doubt they get letter today but I’m old lol
