The Worst Defenses the Top 10 QBs Have Had

Here's some of the other defenses Dak has had:

2016: Ranked 5th in Team Defense (Ezekiel Elliott was also the NFL Rushing Leader)
2018: Ranked 6th in Team Defense (Ezekiel Elliott was also the NFL Rushing Leader)
2021: Ranked 7th in Team Defense, and Ranked 1st in Takeaways
2022: Ranked 6th in Team Defense, and Ranked 1st in Takeaways
2023: Ranked 5th in Team Defense

Poor Dak has never had any help at all. </sarcasm>
I don't so much hold 2016 against him as there aren't that many rookies (count them on one hand at most), who go far in the playoffs. he did help the team tie the game against the HOFer rogers and that vaunted 5th rank defense, laid an egg. giving up three big plays one after another to let them get into scoring position....act like the 5th rank defense and make one play when it counted. you posted the rankings. play like it. otherwise its stupid and irrelevant.

2018, they went 1-1 in the playoffs. but laid a big fat egg against Rams, giving up 250 yards rushing....a 6th rank defense doesn't do that. sadly they were the 5th rank run defense that year.
so as you are trying to say, prove it when it counts. that defense didn't.

2021, I think Dak didn't have a great game. no doubt. but defense also gave up 160+ rushing. again if you are saying do it when it counts, all those ranking are meaningless.

2022, I agree, Dak had a bad game against niners. multiple players came up small in big moments.

2023, that game against GB was a debacle. Dak Sucked. WRs sucked. Defense Sucked. Coaches Sucked. RBs sucked. they all sucked. yes, Dak sucked, just saying it again so you don't make accusations.

You can’t win 0-0 though. You have to score and control clock. Saquon had 57 yards rushing Chiefs limited him.
Which is why Hurts had 75. Chiefs were so intent on taking Saq out of the game, it opened up other areas.

Still, the Philly D was 85% responsible for that win.

Interesting........only two players on the list have Super Bowl rings ( Hurts isn't listed )

So....its a team game but you use qb stats to prove some point?

Since you're so good with stats....do daks 1st qtr and 1st half scoring stats.

The offense lost 2 playoff games the defense lost 2 playoff games they both were the reason for the last loss mainly the defense though.
Its true. I cant figure out why we eternally argue about it.

Nobody blames just dak. Nobody blames offense. Nobody blames just defense. Oh...wait...we all did last year. Everyone blames jerry. Except 2 or 3.

Yet here...we...go....

AH-gin.

Yup. And rightly so.

Im pretty good at reading rooms....for an introvert. ( I do not expect anyone to believe that but come hang out with and be baffled ).

You must have watched an alternate reality in Bizarro world.
We had the best edge tandem since Ware and Ellis in 2005-2008

He used the word “legendary” but the team was coming off three seasons where sack totals had seriously improved over what was happening pre-Parsons, so I’d say the collect was far from Bizarro world.

Tom Brady had the 29th ranked D in 2017. Lost the super bowl because of it.
That stat doesn’t really tell the story of the 2017 Pats.

They were 29th in yards allowed but you can give up yards and still be successful.

The 2017 Pats were 4th in red zone defense, meaning opposing offenses settled for field goals inside the 20 yard line.

They were also 5th in points allowed, giving up 18.5 yards per game.

The Cowboys, last year, gave up 30.1 ppg, worst in the league and worst in team history.

Thats what a bad defense does.

And all those yards allowed came home to roost in the super bowl. The bad D was hidden by the #1 O in the league, until it wasn't.

True, but if the right side of his offensive line didn't cave in at 2:10 in the 4th, that strip sack doesn't happen and they probably win. Eagles D was getting pummeled by Brady all day but came up big at the right time. That strip of Brady is probably the most significant play of Brandon Graham's career. We need our defensive vets to step up like that.

That's simply one individual play. Pats lost because Foles threw all over them. Because the D could not stop them. Not only did that D let Foles throw for 373 yds and 3 TDs, they allowed 164 rushing yards. NE could not stop the Philly O, and the Philly O was not remotely some sort of juggernaut.

Yards matter.

That one individual play most likely cost them the game. Both defenses were destroyed that game. Brady threw for 505 that game. The point is that even in a game with no defense, the team's defense that can make one play when needed most can win. As much as people want to beat on post-season Dak, (yes, I freely admit he has had his share of bad post season moments), having a defense that can come up with a key stop could have gone a long way in ending our current post-season drought. BTW, that offense was damn good, as Philly scored 457 points that year, 3rd in the league, with a good RBBC of Blount, Ajayi, and Clemens, a top five TE in Ertz, a solid #1 in Jeffery, and an O-line anchored by Kelce and Johnson. Downplaying the Philly O for that year is silly...hell, it's just wrong.

Mr. "We was tired" paired with the human speed bump against the run. That is not saying much.

In your opinion, how are you defining 'far' in 'far in the playoffs'? And before anyone asks, my question pertains to all players and their coaches that make up their team--not individual players.

 ..... The exit is 3 doors down on your left
In all honesty...I think I'm tripping over myself trying to make a point...on several occasions not just here.

It's not that I think Dak sucks...I've never said anythinig remotely like that (expect a few very specific plays....it happens). It's that when people try really hard to prop him up (higher than what I think he is...say into "elite" level?)....I want to make the case he..in my opinion...has been blessed with a lot of talent and high draft picks.

I also understand your point was more about defenses than QBs, even though you went "top 10". I think the players around Dak had a LOT to do with it. He's had a lot of 1st and 2nd rounders.
I think I'll have to choose more wisely when my "point" is more appropriate to try to make.

I just thought of something...I'll have to look at your top 10 QB list and check THEIR drafts. It could be I'll have to show myself out that door after all. .:facepalm:

Most of those years look about right. But 2016 is misleading. Those guys were not very good. Ball control offense kept them off the field.
