This is currently under investigation. Can someone with some aviation knowledge tell me what punishment this guy will expect to see. Vasaviation did a followup here.

This is nuts.

I watched that first video a couple of days ago.
I do not know how that female traffic controller did not go full ape crap on that guy. Stayed professional.

He declared a fake emergency, causing all traffic departures to halt from an airport. I want to know what the powers governing this do about it.

They can revoke his license
the FAA could recommend an FBI investigation
Lots of possibilities but none of them good
this guy just nuked his career

Where is our resident pilot on this? Cyberbob?!
Let me preface this by saying the guy is a complete jerk.

With that said, ATC sometimes tries to get you to do things you aren't comfortable with. There are obviously better ways to handle it. I never actually heard him declare an emergency, just threaten it. Usually if there is a pilot deviation, it depends on the attitude of the person. I know a guy who landed at the wrong airport (oops), which happened to be a military airport. He admitted the mistake he made and offered to share his story with the rest of the company in the form of a presentation about what factors lead to the mistake. The FAA allowed him to do that and get some re-training and he was let off the hook. He is a 747 captain at UPS today.

This guy in the video has a pretty dangerous attitude and I suspect that he won't be very receptive to any kind of remedial training, so he's probably going to get his license yanked and spend a lot of money on attorneys appealing it.
