Eh, I don't think he can afford to lose a year of playing time. He'd be entering next year as TE3 at best anyway, and now he's missing a whole year of reps.

Many players come back bigger and stronger after ACL tears....also, a year sitting on the couch, criticizing everyone is a waste, but a year in the film room, on the sidelines, acting like a graduate assistant picking the coaches brains, can really help a player understand the game and the coaches system better. It up to him

Doesn't matter. He's not going to have film to show other teams and he's not going to have practice reps to show the Cowboys' staff that he can play more than he does.

Maybe he comes back and is TE3 on the depth chart, maybe not, but that's best-case scenario now. He'll also be 28 next year, it's not like he's some raw developmental player.

Fant would have been on the PS again. He has some versatility. Or that was said coming out of college. A bit of a tweener at times.
He could line up at TE. Even be used to run the ball, but they never got to that point.

Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Spann-Ford top 3 going into TC. Even before Spann-Ford started to get more playing time, Fant still could not crack the top 3. They had several other TE's before him. One of them was signed off the PS last season I believe.

With Trigg and also the gave Rogers a bigger signing bonus as a UDFA. One of them probably would been TE #4, and Trigg could push for a roster spot.

I still think the try to trade Schoonmaker.

-Michael Trigg (could be active some gamedays but needs work on the position, he's a giant WR)

With Fant's injury the door is open for Trigg but right now his game is as a recieving threat. This is a run first team ( Klayton Adams) with one of the best pass games in The League. It makes for some very interesting decisions. I'm intrigued by Trigg but this could just be training camp fluff(any news hyping Trigg).

He'll be 28 next season going into his 4th try to make the team. I expect they cut him loose as soon as he can pass a physical.

I never understood older players getting into the league. You normally graduate college around 21. What do these guys do for 3-4 years?
