TLH: Christian Parker is already doing what Matt Eberflus never did

Exactly what I was thinking about the Eber bashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's beyond old, and I don't even care for the guy. We had no talent, and that was blatantly obvious. Eber might suck, but last year's horrific D was not even close to on him. It was on Jerry, plain and simple. We took a D that was 28th and removed it's best player. Filled the lineup w/ rooks and JAGs and guys blatantly lacking talent. But, it's on the coach? Yes, yawn, the silly scapegoating is beyond tiring, could not agree more!!!!!!
The amount of willful ignorance you put on display in this area is astounding.

We acquired proven NFL talent. Easy assessment, has nothing to do w/ TC.

I was not excited this time last year. I predicted a 7-10 season, as our D was already bad in 24(28th) and then we dumped our best player. We also dumped one of the best slot corners in the NFL in Lewis, along w/ Kendricks and Golston.

Why were you excited about last season? Serious question, as this was easy to see coming.
Apparently you feel my post was a dig at you but it was not. I was in a way agreeing with you. But like you I have been a Cowboys fan for a long long time. What have the Cowboys always done to us. Let us down. I no longer allow myself to get to high on this team. My point is this is training camp. Unlike you I am not Nostradamus and do not see the future. This is the time of year most of us get hyped and can't see what we will present on the field. I felt our offense would be good but was very unsure of our defense. Parsons was the only thing I felt might make it mid. Then he was traded. However I was ok with the trade because I felt he was a diva and me first type guy and the we needed more "team" players and not those that want to pad their own stats. Parsons wasn't great at stopping the run and we lost our run stopper in Demarcus Lawrence. At that point, which isn't this point last year in training camp last year, I was pretty sure our defense was not going to be very good. Now I didn't expect to be the worst defense I have ever seen but it was. I do think we have added some talent. However they are all new and they have huge question marks until proven otherwise. I feel there is a something in the air this year that is a little bit different but again I don't allow myself to get too high because I don't want to throw another remote into my TV. Joking btw. It is a huge crap shoot at this point. I feel we may have something but until it is proven on the field I am not going to anoint the new players as proven talent quite yet. Serious answer.

The Cowboys are still searching for an offensive coordinator and other prominent spots on Brian Schottenheimer's staff, but hiring Eberflus as defensive coordinator is a great start.

All in all, this is a really strong hire by the Cowboys. Eberflus had immense success in his previous stint as a DC and he's maximized the potential of his linebackers at every stop.
That is not saying anything about the defense playing better or outplaying the offense.

We won't know how the defense is until the real season starts. As everyone gets to here, I'm not going to get excited about preseason puff pieces. I also think that Christian Parker is a complete unknown and its far from a given that he is actually going to be good at his job.

The one thing I have seen that actually gives me hope is the practice videos. Its not the highlights, which are pre-selected. What I see is that pre-snap the defenders are jumping around. For the first time since maybe the Butch Davis/Dave Wannstedt era, I see the team frequently disguising its pre snap look. This is what good defenses do.

Several of the defensive highlights floating around sure look like the QB was tricked into throwing into the wrong coverage. Hell, maybe having to practice against it all week may help Dak with it on Sunday as its one of his achilles heels.

Im absolutely no fan of Uberpuss but when some put 100% of the blame on him they are actually absolving Jones of putting together the worst defensive roster this team has had since the 80s.

"Oh, but Puss should have recognized the problems and made adjustments" ..........once again, it merely rearranging the deck seats on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Having said that, the defensive future is looking potentially brighter and the roster additions are a huge part of that. Also a fresh new DC could be just what the witch doctor ordered

Who’s saying that at all?

This is a Strawman argument.

I was not commenting on what anyone was saying ...... so nope, try again.
Let me explain. The links you provided were praising the Eber. Nothing to do with this thread. We’re talking about the D outplaying the O for a full practice day last year. I don’t know if it happened or not, but I suspect it didn’t since no one can find anything.
