QB2? I'm going with Howell

I had to double back and check again.... I did not mention Dak's name at all. I recall saying that Rush is not better than Howell.

So in what way or what planet does that mean Dak could possibly be worse? Please explain what logic supports your argument...

Its self explanatory. Youll get it. You are close anyways.

Sorry to tell you, but Rush is not better than Howell. Again that's just my opinion.

And Rush is gone . Baltimore didn’t work out . I’m comparing the two as caretakers not equal straight down the line . Milton to me offers more upside and I know on this board this is a controversial take.

The only thing that I get is that Howell, Rush, or Milton's name should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Dak Prescott's name. None of them have been and most likely will ever be anywhere near the level that Dak is on.

Milton throws a prettier ball but I'm going with Howell as the better QB2 right now. Howell just looks more poised in the pocket and more aware of where the ball needs to go. Doesn't have the arm or athleticism of Milton, but I think he can win games if Dak goes down. I just don't trust Milton being able to handle the starting job even if he does look improved from last season.
I think Howell is the winner.

He did play through that nightmare season in WASH. He gets props for that.

They are paying him well.

Talented.

Career NFL statistics as of 2025

I think Milton is going to have to really show that hes taken a step forward as a passer to even make this a competition. Kudos to the Cowboys for going and getting a guy like Howell this offseason. Is he perfect? not at all, but he has a solid arm for a backup and has a full year of starting experience....hes young enough to still have some upside too. I'd feel fairly comfortable if he had to come in and start for a small stretch of games this year.

Does he? Not sure that's true. He appears to be the typical athletic big arm guy who can't play QB. Reminds me of Carson Wentz.

Howell is something Milton is not. A QB.

Howell is a caretaker Milton offers more upside but let’s see if Dallas gives up on him . I wasn’t comparing Rush / Howell arm strength . Brandon Weedon is absurd .
Why is that absurd? A guy w/ a great arm who couldn't handle the mental aspect. What makes you say there's no parallel there?

If you weren't comparing arm strength, then why the comparison?

You keep saying Milton offers more upside. Why?

He’s likely gone after the season though.

He’s UFA.

He will be like Lance. Playing somewhere else for more $$$.

Really need a long term investment in Daks replacement.

No one wants to go through a post-Aikman stretch again.

I agree. Jerry is generally not the forward looking type, though. When we do take a QB, it's mostly not one who will turn out.

Milton has more arm talent and a higher ceiling but Howell can manage a game and that’s what you need for a qb2.

Milton can extend plays get out of the pocket . Brandon Weedon was handed the Cleveland job did nothing with it. Last I checked Milton starts sporadically never with the keys for any length of time . Bad comparison . Howell and Rush have both had exposure to compare . Like I said caretakers.

I want to like Milton for all of his intangibles, but he can’t hit the broadside of a barn. If you don’t have accuracy in this league, or any other you’re cooked.

Howell = Rush . We’ve seen that movie . Give me Milton
There was one year Howell started and he led the league in passing through 6 weeks. Granted, that all came crashing down eventually. But he did it. That's not something Milton could do in a wet dream. To me it's not even close. I just think Howell needs better coaching. He has the ability.
