Sticky: Poll: How confident are you about this team going into 2026?

It’s amazing that all of a sudden with a sounder approach to rebuilding our defense that many fans believe we’ve turned a new leaf now with Jethro. Which must mean no more interference , meddling and undermining moving forward.

Who in the hell actually believes that?

I understand everyone is desperate to get back into the playoffs. And I’m not saying we won’t . It’s very likely. We have done that numerous times this era.

But to believe these better decisions this draft, etc means all of a sudden we don’t still have a dysfunctionally ran franchise with an owner still at age 83 playing out his dream as a football guy.

While we will see some improvements this season on defense translating to better results, we’ve seen these type of improvements before this era regaining playoff caliber teams. But we haven’t rid ourselves of the core problem which has burdened our franchise now all of these years. And until we do we will continue to have the greatest obstacle to overcome.

It could be that Jerry doesn't seem to be in the news quite as much this summer.

Greg, I support and understand your opinions you have posted on this topic. And I also completely support and understand any fan who “believes” and is super excited about the Cowboys in the upcoming year as well.

We all have favorite flavors of ice cream and the reasons why.

The fact that all opinions Cowboys fans have on this site regarding our favorite team are welcome is exactly what makes this place rock. As long as we respect each other’s multiple voices, we don’t have to agree to make this place enjoyable.

Thanks for being one of the most loyal and long standing Cowboys fans here. You’ve probably seen as many or more Cowboys games than anyone here.

Here’s to what we all hope is a great season.

I truly value your opinions and follow your threads agreeing with most thoughts. And I appreciate more than you can know . I also encourage all to present their thoughts and opinions.

I’m just more persistent to drive my point home when met with opposition . Coach Coach described me as a relentless force once I dug in and he’d tag team with me over anyone when arguing a subject.

It all goes back almost 20 years ago why I joined these forums was to speak out against our owner. Along the way I made some anonymous internet friends which never done before.

It’s been a wonderful means to vent my frustrations , present my views on subjects and enjoy some fellow camaraderie .

He’s still at the forefront here locally. And we can’t ever lose focus he’s the greatest obstacle to overcome.

You are right, we would be Superbowl champions. Romo would have led the team that year or another drafted QB would have taken us there by now .

Remember Romo had arguably the best team the Cowboys have had this era in 2007 with 13 Pro Bowlers and #1 seed.

Remember Romo had arguably the best team the Cowboys have had this era in 2007 with 13 Pro Bowlers and #1 seed.

That was a weird game. We got both regular season wins against them. Certainly Romo did not have a great game. And even Manning only had 163 yards, but average 9.1 per reception and132 rtg. Defense gave up BIG plays.

Many people believed Romo's holding fumble ruined him. I say Crayton giving up the route did.

I don't care if it's a 1st or 4th. you HAVE to have some sort of reasonable cycle on having a reasonable "next QB up". More than every 12 years doesn't seem reasonable to me.

All good. I see you're making a general statement.

Definitely a sticky situation. I don't participate in Dak bashing either. At least not any more than any other player when they mess up.
Just keep in mind...some people feel Jerry's hand NEEDS forced....one way or another. And...wanting to move on from Dak and unknown The New Guy is a risk some are willing to take.
With a few exceptions, I think Dak is doing okay. But he's had the advantage of blaming defense for things. If they DO improve, Dak could face ummitigated scrutiny all by his lonesome.Not something he's used to, except by fringe critics.

It's doggone tough having confidence in spoiled players that have been coddled for far too long in the past. I'll be waiting patiently for whatever is possible for them to succeed. The number of these players and coaches to be added to the team are enough in numbers to render them a longshot from the start to find success. I can merely wish them great success, at the most. May the football gods help succeed in any way they can! It might possibly require a Herculean task, imho. We'll see.

We're literally the Texas Bengals.

The engine of this team is our stud QB and two All-Pro WRs, who rain hell on deep throws. We have a pretty good run game complementing that, which gives us a counter-punch of 5 yard HB dives when the defense plays off too far. Only the best defenses can contain all of our weapons, and we will drop points on anybody.

On the flip side, the defense is pretty much a disaster, excepting for the stud DT we acquired via trade. The secondary has more holes than Bonnie and Clyde's sedan and the LB group is non-functional.

We'll try to win as many boat races as possible and see if that can get us into the postseason. If we make it in, we aren't beating the complete teams with an offense and a defense who will be in the final four.

Just last year, so much excitement but when the first game against the Giants was played, our eyes were opened that the defense was very susceptible…

I took B. I think Parker will be levels ahead of the former DC, the man that should not be named. Even a top 15 defense gets this team into the playoffs. We return the same offense. I don't think it will be quite as prolific as last year, since teams will have plenty of tape. But still, there is talent here. I believe...hopefully past game 10.

Bottomline is we had a good enough team to go deeper in playoffs. It happened with Prescott in 2016 as well.

So we can’t say these QB’s haven’t had a good enough team for more success .
