I will call BS on this. He bought the Cowboys not the Bengals. The mystique of fhe Dallas Cowboys started long before Jerry Jones. He is not the reason they are this big.

What you forget, is not only did he profit from the mystique of America's team, but he was also a big part of growing the league through television deals and merchandising...high tide raises all boats. He also had 3 SBs (60% of Cowboys total lombardi's) in his first 5 years which added to the mystique and the overall hatred of the cowboys which kept them in the media's eye making them the most visible team in all of sports. He also sued the NFL to allow him to have exclusive merchandising (the only team in the league to not have to share merchandising revenue). To say he only profited by what he inherited by buying the Cowboys is pretty short-sighted.
