I have never been able to understand the lack of respect for Malik Davis

Sorry if your feelings are hurt. Just stating the obvious. Even the regular Cowboys game analysts said the same last night after the game.
 
I agree with your subject line, OP. It always seems to me that Malik Davis gets discounted or dismissed by lots of people. But each time I see him play, whether preseason or regular season, he's consistently getting 4, 5, 6 yards a run.

He's got decent size and athleticism but doesn't necessarily blow you away in either category. But he seems to have good vision and quick, sharp processing. He often finds the hole or crease quickly and gets north/south right away, while making the right cut at the right time past the first level. Not an elite back, but a steady one.
 
We made the same kind of mistakes with Dowdell, then he made us pay dearly for it last season when he was a panther. With our defense as putrid as it was back then it made for the perfect revenge game scenario for him. NIGHTMARE........

It may develop into one of those situations where Blue ends up the third down/change of pace back. However, if JW were to miss time Davis is the actual back up.

Agree 100%. Plays well every time he gets a chance.
 
I've like him since he was a rookie, and he's underutilized.

He absolutely is the best backup timing back we have. He understands pass protection, and he's nifty.

However, he couldn't handle the full load if needed. He runs hard, but he's smaller.

No idea why he was playing last night.

Blue's problem is that he gets tackled with a pinky finger, and he's horrible in pass protection. Can't play somebody who can't protect the QB.
