If Jonathan Mingo makes the 53-man roster

If mingo make this team I will throw up.

Lamb
Pickens
Flournoy
Turpin
Brown

That's about as good as it will potentially get without the FO doing something completely stupid.
Even if they keep 6 WRs, Mingo should not make the team because that would mean going short at another position and cutting someone like Julius Wood or Justin Barron or even Israel Abanikanda, for arguments sake.

I love Turpin as a returner, but the jet sweep no longer works, and he's hard to get the ball to in coverage.

If they have another decent returner.....?

But I definitely keep Turpin over Mingo and Valdez-Scantling.
But did you love his return game last year? The jogging and 5 yard returns can be matched by someone else.

Teams don't punt to him.

He's fragile and so specific. If he can't be a big part of the offense, might be time to cut bait.

But not for Mingo or Scantling. Those dudes add nothing.

He is too fragile to be running the ball on offense. He specialty is being in space, our him back where he belongs. With a much improved defense, he will have a lot more punt return opportunities, but most likely less kick off returns.

Unfortunately his extension, was a reflection of playing some WR.

I dunno. I saw him catch most kicks last year and jog with 6.0 speed while looking for a hole to run through. He fails the eye test in that regard and it looked like he was saving his energy to play offense.

Every punt team is going to try and force him to make a fair catch.

With the kickoff rule change I was expecting more from him and it did not happen.

I can see them keeping six WRs. Lamb, Pickens, Flournoy, Turpin, Mingo, and Brown.

After last night there is no way they are sneaking Brown through waivers and getting him on the PS. Mingo helps on special teams too, so that enhances his roster hopes.

Mingo will be in the league this year. I’d find a way to keep him here, but not at the expense of exposing Brown.

Sorry I didn’t read every post in this thread. Does Mingo play ST? For some reason I feel as though that answer ought to be ‘yes’ for anyone in the league. It’s like bunting in baseball. Some guys refuse to do it or learn to do it well. These fringe guys ought be all over learning that, but you’re talking about the better players on college teams, who probably never had to do it.

Unfortunately injuries usually settle this. I wonder if they could get a 7th for Mingo. Probably not. I’d rather have the depth but these roster rules are ridiculously stringent, and probably very antiquated. That system needs a serious revamp, especially if they expect to go to 18 games.

That's what you're supposed to do.

Since Mingo got here, he's been okay. Not great. Not bad. Just okay.

I think his only chance to make the active roster is that one special teams position they used to allocate each year to CJ Goodwin (he retired).

The problem for him is the defensive backfield for the Cowboys may need more depth and that may mean using that spot for a DB that's on special teams as depth.

Did you watch the game last night?

Even if they decide to go long at the position and keep him around, he will barely see any offensive snaps….unless several very bad things happen.

If it comes down to exposing Brown in order to keep Mingo, that’s not even a debate.

This could be his last season.

I agree, brother. We go thin at another position to keep 6. Trigg looks like a football player and seems to have matured; we're going thin at RB or TE and will try to stash Trigg or Blue/Mafah on the practice squad. I'm a horrible couch coach/GM so please keep that in mind. :)

GO COWBOYS! :star:
