Shoonmaker has got to go!

Exactly. People forget this or choose to ignore it. Go back to 2024 when Ferguson was hurt and Schoonmaker produced at almost exactly the same level as Ferguson.

Having said that I think this team wants Spann-Ford as the number two guy (that's why he didn't play last night and Schoon did). And why I still think Schoon can net a late round pick in a trade.
I think they can get a 5th or 6th round pick for him.
But other TE's on the roster better show something special.

If another teams TE goes down. They may get a 4th round pick for him.
If he hits FA in 2027. Most likely he gets a contract for a 5th or 6th round pick, unless a team overpays for a 4th, but doubtful.

Huh??? Exactly when and how did we arrive at the conclusion that Schoon does not love football? Every chance he's had he's produced. Check 2024 again when Ferguson was injured. It's just that Schoon doesn't really have a role in this offense because he's a Ferg clone.
Yeah people don’t like Schoon was a 2nd rounder. Fair. But as of now he’s our second best option. Maybe that changes next year….

Some fans pick players then hate on them all the time for whatever reasons.

You aren’t getting a 5th for him. He has no production. I don’t even think he has trade value.

Agreed. If he was taken a couple rounds later people would be calling him a valuable backup. But no matter where he was taken he's still the same player.

I am in the "keep him or trade him" camp. No way would I just cut Schoon for nothing.

This isn't "zero production" for a player that really only got targets when Ferguson was hurt in 2024.

Two different style of players, because we're not fond of Schoon, a turtle could be out there playing TE and catch a ball or two and we'd say he's better!! Let's see how things go, they may have a love for schoon that we don't know about (most likely because they used a 2nd rounder on him)
If Schoon was a 5th round pick we would be fond of him.

Huh??? I said nothing about his receptions. You said he is irrelevant and I said not according to his snap counts. And I'm right.
Who cares about empty snaps on a bad team.

He is a mediocre blocker and a non threat as a receiver. He is a #3 TE on a good team at best

Schoon is done...they might as well release him before the season starts so they can get a head start on Trigg's development. They're not going to re-sign him so no point in keeping him. Schoon is not a threat on offense that they don't even trust him to run any routes and the QBs don't even want to look for him. He is a backup/special teamer...some team will probably pick him up for cheap and he can still have a long career like Geoff Swaim or Blake Bell

The have to find room for Trigg, Brown, Mingo ( Jerry pet project) so Schoon and Blue are not locks to make this roster.
