I have never been able to understand the lack of respect for Malik Davis

Man, why would Blue be the #2? I haven't seen anything to point toward that.
The reports I have seen indicated it was between he & Mafah. As I said, I believe they want a "lightning" component and would lean that way even if not totally earned. Now as someone else said, it could be a little bit misleading. Blue would be the COP for Williams but if Williams went down then Mafah or Davis would lead with Blue still being the COP. Just how I'm reading the tea leaves.

Let’s put RB2 to bed . Malik Davis will give defenses a fresh set of legs to contend with when he comes in and the man is a battering ram. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him short and goal .

Everyone else is playing for the 3rd back or to make the roster .

The truth is Abanikanda outplayed both Blue and Mafah . I hope he sees action in Dallas he runs hard .

Then why didn't Blue gain yardage like that when he was getting the carries prior to Davis taking over? Did the O line not block for Blue but blocked well for Davis? LOL
Believe it or not, this happens pretty often. O linemen want to be appreciated, they want their azz kissed....many of them are like this and they put more effort in for certain players. They swear the don't do it on purpose, but the film doesn't lie.

You're not wrong. And he still might be our 2nd-best RB. I hope not. I was just trying to tell it like I think it is.
Think it comes down to upside.
Think he has less than Blue and Mafeh and he's already proven to be an easy practice squad stash that can be called up.
He was a FA in the offseason and no one sniffed at him.

We made the same kind of mistakes with Dowdell, then he made us pay dearly for it last season when he was a panther. With our defense as putrid as it was back then it made for the perfect revenge game scenario for him. NIGHTMARE........
I get your point but Dowdle signed a free agent contract two days after his deal with the cowboys expired

Davis sat on the practice squad almost the entire season and all any team had to do was claim him.

Yup. I remember back in the day when the OL blocked much better for Kitna/Orton than for Romo.

No, you're wrong. It all falls on the Oline blocking. Had Malik started last night's game and ran behind the 2nd string Oline's putrid run blocking, Malik Davis would have also averaged less than 3 yards per carry the way Blue and Mafah did.
No, that's your agenda. Not sure why you are more interested in propping up particular players than just what is best for the team. Davis has done well in preseason and real games. Can he be upgraded and hopefully by Blue or Mafah? Yes. But you are just more interested in furthering your side than you are talking objectively about the team and what is going on. Multiple topics now. Why? I don't get it. Fans should just want what is best for the team, not what proves them "right" because they have said it a hundred times on a message board and are too stubborn or unable to admit they are wrong to accept it any other way

They don't want him because:
· He's not 23/24 years old
· Doesn't have the prototypical size
· They didn't draft him.
People overestimate Malik running against 3rd stringers. How has he done in real action? Why was he cut and on the practice squad so long, so many times? The entire NFL misjudging him? Or the fact that he's just another guy.

That would be 52/250/4.8 YPC. Maybe you missed last season?

He ripped off 100 vs Commabders late last year plus you have to remember the OL he was running behind in Seattle won’t make the team

1 game, how about the other 4?

3rds against 3rds. Now talk about how bad the OL was run blocking in the first half?

1 game vs 4 where he didn't do much. Just a guy.

Again what do you see that all the other NFL teams don't?
A solid backup w/ no starter potential.

Hey, you asked how he did in real action, I showed you. I agree that he's a JAG.

He is absolutely our best option at RB 2. Was last year as well. In fact since he has been with the team he has done nothing but produce when given the opportunity. IMO he is the very definition of what a solid RB 2 looks like in the NFL. He may not be GREAT at anything,....but he is good at EVERYTHING. He is the type of runner where if the O line has 4 yards blocked up he will get you those four yards and once in a while break one for more. You don't see him running into the backs of the O lineman or trying to take it outside only to end up getting stoned at the LOS when taking the easy 4 would have been the smart play. Blue to me is a boom or bust guy,....quite honestly he looks to my eye like a disaster just waiting to happen. P M is another Solid guy like Davis but is at least a notch or two below. Seems like we are wasting a whole lot of time looking for this phantom RB 2 when the truth is we already have him and he has been here the whole time.
When he played regular season I’ve never been disappointed with him, i remember even that long run last year…if that was Blue we’d be hearing about it like non stop like the dez catch. Certainly very interesting he’s not even like the default 3rd string. What has Hunter ever done to warrant a roster spot over him? It’s not like he’s the second coming of Mose or Kyle name i can’t spell from SF
