Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton

Anyone watch him last night? He was terrible. 3rd stringers were working him over. Discouraged about that debut. They need OTs to step up.

Any thoughts?
Broaddus and Voch were NOT high on him when he was drafted. It seems as though they thought this was a *** pick by the Cowboys. Seems like Broaddus and Voch have a solid cas that they were correct in their assessment of him.

Dude plays like he is 250 soaking wet, gets pushed around by backups easily. There is no way on Earth this guy is ready to play year 1.its better we IR him so he can work on getting stronger, way stronger.

I just went back and rewatched the first half focusing on Shelton. Maybe what you saw was in the 2nd half, because i didn't see anything that bad in the first half. Does he look like he needs to get stronger. Probably. That's not unusual for a rookie.

What I saw was a rookie playing in his first NFL pre-season game. At times I think he was unsure of his assignment but overall I thought he did an adequate job. Again this is just the first half. I will watch the second half again when I have time.

My overall assessment is he was not terrible as you describe. Again, that's just the first half.
You got it right.

He was a 4th round pick for a reason, and it showed. How he responds will dictate how his career might go, let's hope we see improvement.

So, you think he's a prime candidate to be fodder for the big cut in a few weeks? I'm not disagreeing. We shall see.

:facepalm:When did we move to such an instant society?
Not every player coming out of college is NFL ready. In fact, it's actually quite the opposite. We fans expect them to be ready to come in and make our team better from day 1. We need to curb our expectations and allow these young men time to develop, grow and learn before we cast our all knowing judgement on them.
And this isn't just for Shelton, it goes for all the draft picks. On every team, every year.

He was terrible. I think we really should sign someone like Decker. I have questions as it is about Tackle, and Shelton is going to get Dak killed if he plays.

He looks horrible out there. Even undrafted 6'9" Navajo, Shiyazh Pete, looks better than Drew Shelton. I would rather keep Pete than keep Shelton.

Quite honestly, he might be worth earning first team reps? We are so thin at quality tackle depth and it's such a critical position (both LT and RT) that i think we should try him in first team reps to see how he gets on.

Yup.

Jerry won’t do it.

Too much ego and he is stubborn.
They're not just sitting out there. Most every team struggles with this, so good luck finding one.

Decker is a good idea, but what does it cost, and has he stayed in shape. That's a big body to reboot. We saw that with Peters.
