Signed by Cowboys Cowboys & Von Miller have agreed to terms - 1-year, $5.5M deal

yes absolutely 100%. How could you, SteveTheCowboy, demand such a ludicrous amount for such a talented player? For shame Steve. For shame
I believe, kind sir, that I was not clear.

Wasn;t about the money. But that mashing all of the Cowboys zone into one basket. We've never been thaty unified on an issue.

Let me see if I can clarify.
If its more then the Vet min, its too much for Cowboyszone.
The WHOLE cowboys zone? EVERYONE?

oh no. you really took this seriously :omg:

Its a long standing joke that we only offer free agents the vet min because before this year we have only been getting bargain bin free agents so everyone says vet min when a free agent is brought up. Come on brother you been here long enough to have seen this lol

LOL....I suppose I did.

I'm not convinced the entire zone says ONLY vet min when someone like VON FREAKIN MILLER enters the room.

But we've certainly had our share of bottom dwelling vets come in too...so...

not sure who;s side I want to be on here!

I suppose I don't care what they give him. I'm not really a money/contract-type dude. I DO object to vapid generalizations.:) Maybe ya did, maybe ya din't. Can't a fella just tell a joke?

No.

My point is that Clowney got to decent sack numbers because of one game.

While Miller had consistent production throughout.
Why not bring in Clowney and Von Miller?

Looking back on the Parsons trade, we won. We traded a tweener who tore his ACL. And we still have Clark and Williams.

For whatever reason(s), Christian Parker doesn’t seem to want Clowney back.

Now that I think about it.... we going to the Super Bowl boys!

DWare went to Denver with Von to help them... Now Von coming here to help us...

We can still dream lol.

Clowney signed with Houston. Also, we have too many edges that we want to get snaps to bring both in IMO. It's one or the other. They are close enough that my preference was whichever came cheaper. They pretty much signed the same contract - $5.5M plus incentives

So how exactly do they get to $5.5. Are they including $1M of the active roster bonus as "likely to be earned" and not the other $200K (not likely to be earned). Should be $5.7M no?

He played 17 games last year:
If a player played all 17 games last season, their entire per-game roster bonus counts against the current salary cap immediately.
Because they achieved the feat last year, the NFL automatically labels all 17 games as Likely to be Earned (LTBE).

Not really sure. I am more confused by the 4 voidable years on a one year contract. LOL!!

That's so they can split the SB over 5 years for cap purposes The way I see it, his cap hit will be:
2026 cap hit $3.3M - $1.5M base, $1.2M game day bonuses, $.6M (1/5 of SB)
2027 cap hit - $2.4M (4/5 of SB) after years are voided

Plus whatever incentives he may earn

Love the Incentives. Looks like easy money if he really has some gas left in the tank and it's hard to not be motivated with a stash staring you in the face. Looks like a very good team / player friendly contract to me. This was a win-win signing.

BT Jordan sold Jerry on the signing.

Assuming Jerry isn't lying or exaggerating (which he I'm sure is) my excitement for this signing just went through the roof after reading that. BT is one of the biggest keys to our pass rush this year IMO
