When discussing Camden Brown, his 4.6 40 time has come up. However whats not discussed (and is probably more relevant) his 10 yard split. A 10 yard split measures initial burst, and is a crucial metric for how well a WR can get into his route as well as separate. His split is an elite 1.48. Thats significantly better than the available data for this years 1st round WR class as well as Lamb

Carnell Tate: 1.61

Jordyn Tyson: Not available

Makai Lemon: 1.59

KC Conception: Not available

Omar Cooper: 1.55

CeeDee Lamb: 1.46

Side note: those splits look rather slugglish. Maybe this was a good year to pass on a 1st round WR

10-yard split is something you either have, or you don't. There is little coaching that can make it better. This should not be overlooked when evaluating the player. The other critiques (other than pure speed) of Cams form can be improved through coaching. I say put him on the team and coach him.

How is his route running?
How quick is he.
I read he still is rounding on his routes, and not as quick on the cuts.
Let's see the kid duplicate what he did last week. Some players are elite ballers when the game kicks off, and maybe they get bored in practice. I dunno. I need to see more from him before we pencil him in on the 53.

How many WRs have we seen go off in the preseason and then suck when the real games start?

Don’t get me wrong, I am glad the kid is playing well, but this is not an anomaly lol

My 10-yard split was also sick, set a record at my HS for broad jump.

That is a very good 10 yards split. But if he has that kind of burst but still only runs a 4.61 what does that tell you about his top end speed?

None of this means much. If he has hands of glue and can make acrobatic contested catches, he can find a home in the NFL. If all he does is make plays, it doesn't matter how slow he is.

We're 1 pre-season game into the season. Let's see how he does the next two PS games.

That 10 yd burst made Deion....well, Deion
Um... every burst made Deion who he was. His first 10, last 10, and everwhere in between. He was top 5 fastest of all time and he had all the tools to use it. I've been watching football a loooong time and I never got to watch someone like Bullet Bob Hayes, but Deion is flat out the most amazing athlete not named Bo Jackson.

So why weren't you ever at training camp?
Meh, people have NFL speed or collegiate level speed at least and don't pursue sports.

I wasn't even that great a player really. I definitely had other things going on and sports wasn't my main focus. I was lazy to be honest. Im just fast twitched. I was probably better at baseball.

I'll tell you a story. I was an undersized safety Jr. year. We just turned 5A that year and were playing Killeen. Anyway, I got trucked staying up too high and the RB got lower and ran me over. Lol knocked the wind outta me.

I had to sit out for a bit. I went back in, but after that, I probably wasn't as an enthusiastic a tackler. Lol

To be honest, that play changed me to this day. My ears ring just thinking about it.
