Cowboys fliers in 4th round not looking good

[Verdict]

I’m not draft guru, but I put in a lot more time getting to know the prospects this year than in years past. I was pretty excited about the players that were on the board and available to us in the 4th. Then I watched our picks in the 4th round and was very disappointed in the Shelton and Overton picks.

I know it’s early, but the early returns don’t really bode that well for either one of these guys. I don’t know why Dallas doesn’t stick a little bit closer to the concensus rather than reaching for guys who really aren’t that inspiring. These picks really didn’t make a lot of sense from day one.

I’m hoping that the team ends up being vindicated with these picks, but as of right now the Cowboys seem to have missed on these picks.

Shelton was the best OT available, at least on paper that is. They were desperate for OT and reached.

I can't say I don't get it, they needed OT probably in the 1st but there isn't any way around the dearth of talent on the defense.

It’s far too early to draw a definitive conclusion how these guys will turn out and whether they will ultimately be considered good or bad draft picks. It is never too early to say that “at this point in the evaluation process —with a small sample size—that “its not looking good so far.”

It’s not a knee jerk reaction. It’s an assessment of what evidence we have in front of us at this point in time”.

I have a feeling that we won't know what we have in Overton until the games actually happen, and violence is involved.

Shelton is likely a project.

Hes interesting. They've got him playing some S too. He has abilty in coverage for sure but needs to stay healthy.
