They didn’t dumb it down last year so in year two it’s likely it will become even more sophisticated since the entire offense returned.

That’s a gross simplification of what was a Kellen Moore and WR problem.

When we had Kellen Moore, who has always been more style over substance, McCarthy had to step in because “all Kellen wants to do is light up the scoreboard”

McCarthy changed the offense because it sucked. Moore’s offense relies on elite route running receivers who not only win their matchups but are also capable of making decisions on what variation of a route to run while they are at the line of scrimmage. The QB has to do the same at the same time. Of both aren’t clicking, it fails. The only receiver we had capable of doing it was a CeeDee. The next best was Noah Brown.

Dak is among the best in the NFL at presnap reads so the mess being laid at his feet was a combination of Jerry not knowing what the words coming out of his mouth and the media running with it.

Dak wasn’t the problem and if he had Pickens, Lamb and Fluornoy back then, it might have worked

Moore was so locked in on his own “wunderkind” label that he was unable to adjust and the adult in the room, McCarthy, had to step in.

He’s going to have the same problem in New Orleans. He better smarten up because it’s already a flashing warning sign with a young QB and only one decent WR.

Bottom line is that Moore’s offense doesn’t operate in a way that wins games like McVay and Shanahan and the coaches who run variations of the West Coast.

Those KM offenses led the NFL in yardage twice in three seasons. They definitely had substance.

this is the best coaching staff we have had since parcells. I like Adams, I like Parker. and I think schotty is more johnson like, but with less big stick.... he is differing to his coaches but staying involved and is trying to manage the psyche of the team.

the question is psyche of the team. be confident without being too cocky. stop talking. show with your play and just differ. stop talking big. be generic in answers.

KM was definitely a part of the issue, but who is convinced that Dak still rolls snake eyes and has issues with 2nd, 3rd, reads, etc? If you want to discuss simplification and suggest that if he was GP and 88 back then, the issues wouldn't be what they were, but that's on the guys in front of him, not the ghosts and goblins in his head that still like to make an appearance at times. All this does if further mine and millions of others' point that Dakk and every other QB heavily rely upon coaching/personnel to succeed...thus, give credit where it's due not just to the guy throwing the ball

Yeah, the importance of giving Dak some time and a clean pocket cannot be overstated, not to mention a run game. They've got arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL and it's all for naught if this high risk gamble with Steele and Guyton and zero depth burns it all to the ground.

They certainly have depth issues along the line but they do have Bass. I would bet that by week 2, there will be a new face or 2 in the oline room.

Talking about running schemes always intrigues me because you can do so much around different formations, motion, alignment, etc but it still comes down the same run plays…power, iso, counters, trap, inside zone, stretch, toss/sweep and draws.

You listen to an offensive coach talk through it and its the most difficult thing you can imagine. You listen to a defensive coach talk through it and come away with the impression a 4th grader could design run plays.
