Oh absolutely. There’s nothing to disagree with there, and it’s a great thing.

While Im ready to take the defensive transition for granted by relative comparison, I am going to hold off a bit on Miltie. I know this….I feel a hell of a lot better about the backup situation than I did a few weeks ago.

I wish people would admit we all felt uneasy about Rush but people keep talking about his record like they didn’t win in spite of him.

Cooper Rush, I don’t know how we got the support, he was getting from fans, he had a noodle arm, he would trip on his own feet trying to get out of the pocket, he was driving two buses at once

Camden Brown has shown a lot of talent in this pre-season. He can flat out catch the ball. He is not the fastest but neither were a lot of Pro Bowl receivers. I am not saying he is Randy Moss but he could be a great developmental receiver. He certainly is better than Tolbert who we kept as the 3rd receiver for years. I still remember yelling at the TV when the Cowboys had the opportunity to draft Moss and did not. I felt the same with Tyler Warren last year. I believe there are athletes and there are football players. Sometimes they have both qualities. I have the strong sense that Brown is a football player. Milton is as well. I also think CeeDee is declining and by the end of the year may not be the second best receiver on the team. No one has mentioned this but I firmly believe Pickens is better than CeeDee and that it would be a huge mistake to let Pickens leave Dallas. I think Pickens has incredible talent but is not football savvy or that he possesses the killer instinct. Pickens does. Not a CeeDee hater, just think he is receding.

his meal ticket is special teams and he knows it, so he is going to haul his rear on special teams. but I think like you, there is something to this kid. doesn't have the deep speed, although he did decent on that 70 yard catch and run. but he knows how to get separation, and use his body and make contested catches. just needs a little seasoning. he has upside.

and his 10, 20 yard splits are pretty good. doubt he only needs to run 40 yard vertical routes.

I think what he’s saying is it’s premature. If he sucks Friday and Howell looks good we are back to 1.

At the end of the day I expect to see Milton this year whether it’s blowouts or Dak getting hurt.

All I'm saying though is even if he had gone out there and competed against AZ's first string, there would still be questions. Nothing he could have done, in any situation, was ever going to give him regular season proof in the preseason. BUT we should say he passed this test and deserves more opportunities rather than pick apart all the nuances.

I agree. He's for sure has passed the test thus far. He was so raw last year I would've been perfectly fine with him looking decent. He's exceeded my personal expectations for him.

I also felt uneasy. The offense under Rush was conservative and mistake-averse. Somehow the defense held opponents under 20 points in all of Rush's wins in 2022. Then he threw two picks in his first seven passes at Philly and the honeymoon was over.

The guy was never an NFL QB. Kind of like Kellen Moore in that regard that his ability to manage a game somehow led to a multi-year career as a backup.

And when you bring up the defense having to play better because they knew the offensive limitations they say its a myth. Its clear what happened. Then they faced a Eagles team and got the living crap smacked out of them. So yeah to even see Sam Howell and Milton....I have confidence we can at least score more than 20 if need me. Or at least have the potential to do it.

Well, essentially it's everyone who loves Dak. They hate Milton because he might threaten Dak. They want Milton to suck so their hero can keep losing playoff games.

I said the same exact thing on the first game of preseason, he looked much better last night, the guys does nothing but improve. I’m so impressed and happy for him.

He looks "nervous" because his instinct is to run. But he's been coached to keep looking for the throw. I think he'll get better with it. He defintely doesn't want hit.

Hopefully he will develop into a great QB.

It's amazing how much more accurate a QB becomes when they stop throwing off their back foot.

footwork is critical critical critical

Dak had the same issue and why he held on to the ball longer, because he didn't trust himself making tighter throws. it led to a lot of sacks.
John Kitna worked with him, on setting his foot, having right foot placement and then making throws. he improved significantly.

a lot of these young college QB, get away with athleticism in college against lesser opponents. specially Milton who has a rocket arm. they pick up bad habits, that just won't work in NFL.

Right. Yeah i'm thankful those days are gone and at least Howell and Milton have the legs to make some things happen and move the offense.

People say this offense is "easy" to run...I mean there's nothing to base that on but I think we've seen enough guys fail at it to say its not as easy as maybe Dak makes it look. For Joe to look like this after year of getting the playbook is pretty good.

Funny, what this implies is the Cowboys should make personnel decisions to satisfy fan curiosity or feed into their narrative (because the fan has a right to know - who cares what the team already knows).
