We are less than 3 weeks from the start of real football that counts! Best time of year starts in September and all the speculation and hope we all have for the season begins to be tested.

One of the wildest roller coaster rides you can ever see on this great forum is watching the ups and downs of a regular season Game Day thread. It’s almost as good as a stand up comedian as long as you don’t take any of it too seriously.

It’s like being in a giant restaurant watching your favorite team with hundreds of other Cowboy fans either screaming with joy or demanding the firing of a coach….on each play! Sometimes it seems like we need a counselor hotline available…and that’s just for the first three and out!

So just for fun, here are some guaranteed funny moments on a Game Day thread that are as predictable as a sunrise:
  • If our offense has a three and out, you will see, “This is the worst offense I’ve ever seen. Schotty sucks. Get a real play caller in here.” “Game over.” “We may not score.”
  • If we score on the next possession, “Great call!” “What a drive.” “Unstoppable”.
  • If our opponent scores first, “Here we go. Game over.” “Parker is a joke”, “Get a real DC in here Jerry.”
  • If Dak throws a TD or an INT, a war begins between those who believe DP is “the worst QB ever to wear the Star” and those saying, “He’s better than ____”, and then the middle school cafeteria food fight begins and some people have to be benched or locked out. No middle ground for a lot of folks.
  • If we win…”Super Bowl.” “This team is different.” “We will run the table.” A bunch of “I told you so” comments.
  • If we lose…”I knew this team was a joke.” “Fire everyone.” And…a bunch more “I told you so” comments.
Game Day threads are a great way to enjoy the games, hang with fellow Cowboys fans, and hopefully enjoy the game more. And it can be really fun if we all keep our heads…wait a minute…who am I kidding?

Regular season will be here soon and I can’t wait. Go Cowboys!

I think too many people gamble on "Told YA!" gimmick.

Humans want the "I was right FIRST" award...and nowhere does it excel more than in our modern media..."journalists" (btw "journalism in this country is DEAD!" :) )

If they are right you'll never hear the end of it. If wrong you'll never hear iof it again.

Some people use the "hope I'm wrong" tactic.

Used to love game day threads...now...I'll just watch the game...enjoy in the moment.

I'm only 45 (which is young compared to the lot of yuh), but it's insane how quick 3 weeks goes by now. I almost wish it was still 2 months away, because the season will be halfway through before you know it. Also, Garrett sucks.
I’m in my 60s Lonnie. Time gets faster every year my friend. Yep when you’re 10 years old waiting for Christmas, 3 weeks seems like a year. When your mid 60s, it seems like 3 days, lol

Aw...45? Adorable!

But yes....life is like a bugs bunny / elmer fudd calender.

The days are long but the years so very short.

Let's not forget on a game day thread

GAMEDAY Coog is here!!!!!! Coog loves everyone in here!!!! (Coog gets emotional on game day!)= They say what they want about coog throughout the week (complain about the millions of threads, etc etc), but at the end of the day on game day all of that is put to the side for our COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think having children accelerates the process even more. Seems like just a couple years ago I had my daughter in a dallas cowboys onsie with a baby bottle and me with an...adult bottle (just beer!).

Now she's 6 years older than me when we had her. Crazy. Watching a baby grow older before your eyes.

I know we complain about the time flies, about our neighborhoods changing, stores closing, woods and fields paved. But I guess we should consider ourselves lucky as well. Survivors.

I stay out of the game day threads except for half time. You can’t watch the game and be reading and creating content at the same time.

  • Psychological Contexts: Some individuals may use third-person self-reference to manage emotions or create psychological distance from stressful situations.

The first quarter, all you hear is Cowboys suck we’re going to lose
Fourth-quarter Cowboys win, where did everybody go?
I usually don’t post during the game, I would like to, but I’d rather concentrate on the game, you might see me at halftime, or right after the game

I've gotten to where the preseason games are much more enjoyable, especially since I joined a preseason fantasy football league. I'm currently in first place, and the championship is this week! Oh, I wish Beau Morgan was still on our ball club.

I'd love this crew to develop into a top 10 defense. I know, I'm asking for a lot, but watching my team smash offenses will bring me lots of enjoyment. I've seen a lot of pre-season teams since 1962 and this one looks pretty darn good. Either way, another season that I've been waiting for since February. Go Cowboys.

If you’re looking down reading and or texting then you’re distracted from watching and listening to the game .

I find the forum most activity is after the game, especially a loss. You can’t even post new threads during the game .

But if you can’t watch the game I could see how it might help keep up along with following online .

I don’t even allow talking or discussing here during action. In between plays if you must quickly , commercials and halftime only. Strict discipline and focus on game . We take our Cowboys very seriously:)

You sound like me when my kids were younger and still living at home with me. They knew better than to disturb "Mommy" during Cowboys' games!!

Yea , during games I’m like don’t get on my yard type attitude . And no unannounced visits allows either.

Everyone knows not to bother me during game . Back in the day of land lines I had a message on my recorder that said” I’m watching or at the Cowboy game and you should be too”
