The Unique Fun of a Regular Season Game Day Thread

  • If our offense has a three and out, you will see, “This is the worst offense I’ve ever seen. Schotty sucks. Get a real play caller in here.” “Game over.” “We may not score.”
  • If we score on the next possession, “Great call!” “What a drive.” “Unstoppable”.
  • If our opponent scores first, “Here we go. Game over.” “Parker is a joke”, “Get a real DC in here Jerry.”
  • If Dak throws a TD or an INT, a war begins between those who believe DP is “the worst QB ever to wear the Star” and those saying, “He’s better than ____”, and then the middle school cafeteria food fight begins and some people have to be benched or locked out. No middle ground for a lot of folks.
  • If we win…”Super Bowl.” “This team is different.” “We will run the table.” A bunch of “I told you so” comments.
  • If we lose…”I knew this team was a joke.” “Fire everyone.” And…a bunch more “I told you so” comments.
Game Day threads are a great way to enjoy the games, hang with fellow Cowboys fans, and hopefully enjoy the game more. And it can be really fun if we all keep our heads…wait a minute…who am I kidding?

This made me laugh because I’m already envisioning Dak throwing a bad ball or having a bad game and the Milton supporters come out and say play him and sit Dak. Then all war breaks loose in the zone. Aww game day threads are pure bipolar reactions in the moment.

When I was a kid, Summer break seemed to last a long time. These days it's over in seemingly a couple of weeks from my current perspective. I'm already dreading the cold weather coming with the seasonal changes.

This is why I will never get enough of Scooter Magruder and him giving his perspective of a Cowboys fan watching the game it is just like that..

People may have grown tired of him, but I haven't I think that stuff he does is hilarious because we all go through those emotional roller coasters...

It's very split. On one hand you show way more patience with things. On the other you dont have time for this nonsense.

The game day thread is a good example of the uniqueness of being a fan. There is no template for fandom, the word fan is derived from the word fanatic. Some of the words used to describe a fanatic, extreme, unreasonable, obsessive. Good luck with those call out threads on trying to get everyone on the same page. You won't even be able to get everyone to pick up the same book :laugh:

I completely understand. As a mod, I’m “on duty” sometimes on those Game Day threads, and they can be funny, or fun, sometimes predictable, sometimes too venomous. Never boring.

But I get it. Not a lot of analysis or logic usually found on those threads. Just raw fandom.
