You don't think Williams is a keeper?
So is Howell's. I don't think that necessarily means they have to be kept, but it's usually an indication. The Cowboys would save $500,000 against the cap by cutting Williams, but I do think if it is close between him and another player, that the guaranteed salary wins out. And with Howell, I think there's a better chance he ends up on the practice squad if we cut him, so they will still get their money's worth out of him.His contract is GTD.
2.5M hit.
Good thing we just skipped the second round this time. Hope Lawrence doesn't end up being one of those firsts who don't work out, or Eze in the second. Sooner or later, the odds favor us hitting on some second-rounders. We haven't hit on a second since Trevon Diggs in 2020 ... and that was short-lived.Jerry wants him to work out.
He is among a string of terrible 1st/2nd round picks that didn’t work out.

Don't forget Trysten Hill.Jerry wants him to work out.

My view of Williams is well known. I replied to another Mod just a few hrs ago on the guy.You don't think Williams is a keeper?
Please explain. Because the way it's looked he's not getting cut.

IF I had any doubts about cutting him now, they are gone.Sam Williams is actually performing very well, whether blitzing from the edge, stopping the run or pass protecting. He's been performing very well all training camp and preseason. Definitely, a keeper.
I would give more time to Clark, EZ, Lawrence, Houston, and Von….ive seen more out of all of them than I did Williams….and if we need a roster spot for a different position, do we really need 6 OLB?Well let me ask you this…. In that same span who developed? UnderEberflus and Zimmer..
I don’t think you can ever have enough so it depends who you are cutting in favor of for….a receiver? I wouldn’t.I would give more time to Clark, EZ, Lawrence, Houston, and Von….ive seen more out of all of them than I did Williams….and if we need a roster spot for a different position, do we really need 6 OLB?
Maybe OL. Not that I WANT to straight cut him, but if we needed to, he would be the one out of the ones I listed.I don’t think you can ever have enough so it depends who you are cutting in favor of for….a receiver? I wouldn’t.
I would certainly understand it for ol.Maybe OL. Not that I WANT to straight cut him, but if we needed to, he would be the one out of the ones I listed.
I'm disappointed any time a Cowboy fails to succeed. But my disappointment is dulled because I had low expectations from the start. I thought he was a major reach when we drafted him.He has played a ton of preseason, game snaps and very few impact plays. Anybody else dissapointed?
It’s not just 2nd round picks. The great will McClay hasn’t been very good for awhile. They do a great sale job every off season. He's a former 2nd round pick. If your 2nd round pick is a role player he's a disappointment.
It has. His play proves he belongs. No matter what we think about Williams it'll all become clear in just a few days.
He is very good at his job. Considered one of the best in the league. The great will McClay hasn’t been very good for awhile.
