A lot of the people dogging it are original Halo fans who are extremely protective of Halo CE (the first game). It’s not necessarily that they may hate remakes....it’s that CE is considered one of the greatest games ever made, so when you start changing visuals, gameplay, levels, etc., some people feel like you’re ‘fixing’ something that wasn’t broken. There’s also a nostalgia factor. If you never played the original, you probably won’t understand why certain changes bother people so much. Personally, I think some of it is just purist mentality...people want the exact game they remember, not a reinterpretation of it.I am assuming you have played the original Halo. I haven't played any of them, but I thought about trying this one. However, I have seen a lot of discontent about the game from players who played the original series. I wouldn't have any preconceived ideas because as I said, I never played it. What is the real reason for the disappointment.
I love the original Halo. I had hours and hours into that game, and I have some great core memories playing multiplayer with friends....but the remake didn't bother me at all. I thought it looked fantastic, and I had a blast playing through it.
I'd say if the game looks interesting to you, absolutely give it a shot. Don't let all the negativity from the OG Halo crowd scare you away from it. It's a good one.
