Who do you cut Brown, Trigg or Mafah

I’d be shopping several of the final year guys. They’re not good enough to where the team was going to pay them next year anyway.

See if you can get anything for:
  • Schoonmaker
  • Mingo
  • Sam Williams
  • Hooker
I think we have depth at all of their positions.
I agree on all of those except maybe Hooker. Even though Hooker's far from great, I'd like to see Downs prove himself first before we move on. I think Thompson, Hooker and Downs are probably our top three safeties. Maybe if he hadn't had the injury, Locke would be up there as well. I like Bell, but for a specific role and I'm not sold on Wood or Clark as anything more than depth.

If the Cowboys only keep 5 WRs, and 3 TEs and 3 RBs who stays and who goes. I think Michael Triggs is the #1 keeper and the most likely to be picked off waivers as TE is a huge need on teams. Cameron Brown may also not clear waivers but the Cowboys have more depth at WR than TE... I think Mafah is gone either way and Israel "Izzy" Abanikanda can easily be stashed on the practice squad.

Keep - Michael Triggs
Cut - Cameron Bronwn
Cut - Phil Mafah
All of them

I’d give the job to Locke and not think twice about it. I think he’s more comfortable and familiar with Parker’s scheme anyway.

Just my opinion.

That's also a good point but the counterpoint is the Cowboys can't build their roster off of potential they literally have to build it by whatever helps them win the most and keeps the most depth this year II know it's weird but that's just the way it is they spent too many resources on trying to get the defense better they can't go too deep at wide receiver when they don't need it I think they're going to need to use those resources on maybe a tackle maybe another corner I mean they're going to have to go long in the places that they are the most exposed and those two are the most exposed they're gonna need more bodies and more room just in case..

Look I get it II seen what you saw but but that doesn't mean that he should be kept over mingo we should try to get him to the practice squad..

That does suck when we lose a player with all that potential we traded away the corner named Ward before we saw what he had but it happens sometimes other teams do it too I mean how you think we got George Pickens for a 3rd round pick...

These are all valid points and we'll see what the coaches feel..
Absolutely right. Can't make decisions based on what COULD be when you only get 53 spots.

We've got a bit of a log jam at WR, which is a wonderful problem to have. Most rosters, Brown probably is an easy decision.

There's a bit of added emotional pressure to get that decision right, because of the imminent contract situations, and I think we're feeling that a bit as fans. No one wants to miss the next big thing, however unlikely it is to happen.

I just don't know where he is in his recovery from a very serious surgery. He did not do that much for Denver last year coming off it, which is why he was available for a relatively cheap, one-year deal.

I hear ya. That’s a valid concern, but I haven’t seen where it’s been any issue so far.

Just haven't seen enough of him to know, just like with Downs. Some promising signs in practices, but I'd like to see more before we move on from certain players.

By the same token, I’ve seen enough of Hooker to know that the team wouldn’t miss him if he were gone.

There are a lot of safeties and corners I’d rather keep around than him.

Cowboys should carry only 2 QBs, so they should be able to cut Sam Howell and stash him on the Practice Squad. Also, the Cowboys are very likely to keep 6 WRs, thus keeping Camden Brown. Which means they likely cut Jonathan Mingo. RB Phil Mafah is likely to get cut as well with hopes he makes it through waivers in order to cut placed in our Practice Squad.

Like I said, I don't think Hooker is anything special, but I don't know right now if we'd miss him if he were gone. We get a lot of grass-is-greener on this site, and I prefer proof over speculation. I expect Downs to reduce Hooker's playing time as the season progresses. I wouldn't mind if Locke proves he deserves snaps over him, because I'd love to upgrade the spot. I just would rather make sure we are getting better and not worse.

I feel like Brown absolutely gets nabbed if exposed. He has made enough plays in preseason games that a WR needy time will snap him up. Like the Dolphins. Trigg hasn't shown much due to the injury, I feel pretty confident he would make it back to the PS. I like Mafah, but I feel the same way about him....he likely makes the PS.

I still have no idea why we might keep Luepke. I have never seen anything even remotely exceptional from him. I would actually keep Mafah over Luepke.

OL we can easily go with 9 with a couple of these scrubs on the PS. Bass is a given and probably Cornelius also, maybe Leverette and Keegan, but Thomas has regressed and no one else really has stepped up.

I'd have no problem letting Hooker walk myself. The people talking about Sam Williams and Marist Liufau.....neither one makes much of an impact. I have seen some say that Liufau is a cornerstone ST player, but Sam has definitely made more plays on ST.

I would expose Howell for sure....he should make it back to the PS. If not, Dillon Gabriel probably gets released by the Browns....give him a call for PS,

I agree he and Thompson were great additions and made lots of people expendable especially since Downs is also a safety and can play nickel And the additions of Durant and I'm gonna put in Kendricks I know people are talking about him but he's a veteran and we need experience at corner I know nobody has mentioned him at all but when I look at a lot of what the Rams did he may not have been spectacular but when you seen some of the stuff we were trotting out last year I would take Kendricks on this roster as well

You can add in the draft picks bringing over Gary now adding Von Miller minute some solid stuff over there so yeah it's gonna be tough on who to go long who goes short I don't know where they do with these positions..

I had high hopes for Mafah but there's no room for him. That said, he probably makes it to the PS and hopefully remains there until his next opportunity comes.
