Clarence Hill comments on 105.3

So they cut Camden Brown. There is going to be a riot in here if they do. Honestly after an ok but not amazing 2nd game and a ho-hum 3rd game, I am fine if they cut him and lose him. He might be a decent receiver who makes big catches every once in a while, but he is far from proven against first team defenses and all around a good WR.
None of the cuts appear to be a huge deal, but it still sucks to lose Brown. There were only one or two wrs claimed after cuts last year. They are playing the odds.

Corner, linebacker, OT concern me most. Keegan better make the 53. His versatility and play has stood out. Nate Thomas is getting cut. Keegan might be able to slide in at any position n the oline except LT. He's nasty too. Gotta add a good vet at cb. Not sold on linebackers we have. If we can solve these 3 positions, we got something.

Yes agree. I still have them as keeping 6. But will look at it again in the morning.
Unless they start their cuts before then.
You’ll start knowing cuts mid afternoon. Teams inform players and agents before they submit a the deadline and those parties start sharing with social media sites to get their hype going

Some teams have already started cutting guys yesterday and today

It’s the right thing for a team to do so the young players have every opportunity to get a jump on finding a job.

Most teams announce their rosters right after the deadline

Looked it up for last year. The Cowboys released their list at 4:16 pm EST (16 minutes after the deadline)

3. Camden Brown will not play this year anyway, so he will be cut and put on the practice squad of possible. Receivers are a dime a dozen, so he likely won't be claimed.

Clarence is high.

Raiders, Colts, Seahawks and Panthers will all be looking to claim a WR tomorrow night.

The fact that Mingo, who stole money for the last year and a half and also stole a 4th round pick, might make this team at the expense of Brown seems crazy to me.
And those teams are going to be looking for someone like Scantling.
Not a player wh needs 2 seasons development running routes!

There is a much more appropiate word.

That’s just the games. Brown was lighting it up in practice also, making big time catches

This “receivers are a dime a dozen” attitude some people have is really… untrue.

And it’s provably untrue based on the WR talent in the league.

We wouldn’t have Caleb Downs if 2 teams ahead of us didn’t force WR picks.

WRs also seem to have a high bust rate. MHJ is just average. N’Keal Harry. Kelvin White. Remember Darius Heyward-Bay?

Maybe average WRs are easy to find, but good to great ones are not. And Brown has already shown he has special traits - for instance, contested catch ability and play strength.

Teams like Houston have been looking for an elite receiver since Hopkins left.

I feel like the Raiders, or the Texans, or the Titans, or the Dolphins, would try to sign Brown pretty quickly if he was cut. He has already shown remarkable traits.

All Mingo has shown is he can play special teams - and it isn’t worth cutting promising talent at one position for a mediocre talent just because the mediocre talent plays special teams.

He'd be inactive all season. No plays available for him.

Can't waste a roster spot on that.

If somebody gets hurt, he'll be called up.

Brown isn't an elite receiver. Lol

He's a slow guy who left Auburn for a small school and didn't get drafted. He has a nice camp and has good hands, bit his routes are sloppy.

He wouldn't ever play unless somebody gets hurt. Can't have that on your roster unless you're a QB.

I wouldn’t risk losing Brown. He looks every bit ready to play right now and someone might grab him. Trigg? Maybe, but not so much.

Schoon didn’t play at all yesterday. He isn’t getting cut. Sam Williams is as good as gone. The guy was playing into the 4Q of the final PS game.

And how long have many of us been begging for another LB?

What will Brown do for this team this year?
Insurance for any of the top three receivers that go down. I’d bet at least one of them misses some games because of an injury this year. Who’s sliding into the 3rd receiver spot? Turpin?

Brown is good. He might make our roster and he might not. However, he isn't going to play week 1 if they keep the other 5. I think that Mingo is a starting gunner.

Mingo is a solid backup as well as a special teams player.

So the logic is to keep a mediocre talent who hasn’t done anything in the NFL over the course of 4 years with two different teams, over a guy who flashes because the guy who flashes is slower and went to a smaller school. Thats what I’m gathering.

I’ll take the guy who is constantly making plays when given the opportunity.
