I don’t understand how bringing in another guy who has struggled helps us.

Move Smith to LT, Guyton to RT, Bass to LG, and let Steele be the swing and pray there are no injuries.

Scour the cuts and PS players from other teams and sign some guys to upgrade from Thomas or Shelton, and maybe grab an interior OL to back up

We are in a bad way along the OL. Trading assets away for more question marks is dumb.

We knew Steele was a weak link last year and the FO sat on their hands. This is the price of overvaluing your players. They paid him big money which was a mistake, and then they doubled down on the mistake by refusing to cut him bc of the dead money hit

Same here. The issue with the OL is right now. Why chase a talented but flawed player who can't help you today?

The difference between a 3 and 4 is huge. It may not seem like much right now, but it will when it's day 2 of the draft next April, and we're sitting around waiting for Saturday.

Smith has come a long way. He is clearly our best option at LT. He doesn’t want to do it and the team doesn’t want to admit that Guyton was a mistake yet.

They are hoping he turns a corner, and Steele’s abysmal regression has made a problem a three alarm fire.

Hence the panic move to trade for another OT that has sucked and praying he miraculously fixes the issues lol

Your use of logic and common sense brother can't break through their "but he's an all pro guard" narratives.
Regardless if that's what is best for the team.

They can't grasp it cuz they want to keep holding on to those elite combine traits that have never shown themselves on the actual playing field.

It will play itself out one way or another this year.
He can either play or he can't.

I don’t think Steele and Guyton struggle with being professionally motivated.

I think they are physically struggling to do their jobs.

Therefore bringing in another guy that is struggling to physically do his job (at the cost of a top 100 pick!) doesn’t solve the problem.

It amounts to throwing more mashed potatoes against the wall and hoping something sticks

Without the spinal fusion surgery I would have been ok with taking this chance that Jones can be “fixed” and live up to his potential. But that’s a no joke injury that adds a lot more risk to the equation.

I know the overall draft capital isn’t much, so can’t REALLY complain, but only having one day 2 pick is going to hurt a little

Where did this come from? Cowboys are moving their 3rd down a little and spending a 6th on a former 1st rounder. Everyone seems to forget he is still on his rookie deal too.

If he works out, then he does. If he doesn't, then he doesn't. The amount of overreading into this trade is over the top.

The Cowboys aren't panicking over any position. Especially OT where the top 4 from last year are all returning.

Absolutely. Even more frustrating is that they've spent decent + recent draft picks to try and rectify the problem, and have a servicable swing guy in Cornelius and Shelton (and others before them). Is Jones even that guy? I don't know that either, since he reportedly struggled at RT.

Looking at it I like it.

He may have an entirely different career at Right Tackle if that’s what is asked of him.

Is he good? No..

But league average Tackles are about what Broderick Jones is.

Is he better than Nate Thomas? Yes..

And Nate Thomas is our contingency plan.

So I like this move for Dallas because there is still some upside with this player and we swapped a 3rd for a 4th..

I'm not worried about what people think of him all I know is I guarantee this and I'm not over there but I don't need to be over there to understand this team and how teams operate Adams Schottenheimer and Will Mcclay saw a need just like we did at tackle they went to Jerry and they had a list and they consulted and said we can work with this guy Adams and Riley or whatever the other guys name is for the offensive line they're the ones who know about these players and whether they can work with them or not it doesn't matter what fans and media think it's the worst thing to do is like well we saw what he did over there yeah the same team the Pittsburgh Steelers who gave up on George Pickens it happens all the time draft picks get in a low and they're not very good and the team gets rid of them and they go somewhere else and they actually can sometimes reignite their career...


Want to hear what fans think because they're listening to media and they are looking at what this guy did or didn't do in the past all I know is Jerry didn't wake up and this guy's name was at the top of his mind that did not happen This was something from the coaching staff who probably took it to Will Mcclay and they did research you know they didn't do this on a whim and they think they can work with the guy so they asked Jerry to go ahead and make the trade that's how it works you think Jerry and Steven are doing all these things and it just seems really dumb no that is not how it works they do consult and when it's a name like this that's probably not at the top of anyones list it came from the coaching staff..


Good bad or indifferent i'm gonna trust the coaching staff thinks they have something to work with and they're gonna try to do it this guy is gonna be the swing tackle to start the season and maybe a change of zip codes getting on a different team is gonna help him out where he's not pressured he could be the swing tackle and work his way in..

You lost me at comparing this trade to a healthy George Pickens, who was an already established player in the NFL.. This guy will not/should not see a down of play in 2026, and the team's best bet is that he can have a full recovery. To give up a 3rd-round pick in the '27 draft isn't great either
