It could be less than 15 picks. At least they are trying and aren't totally naked at the position going into week 1. Maybe he works out and maybe he doesn't. Giving up the 6th and a move back isn't going to kill them. If the Steelers did cut him, it doesn't mean that the Cowboys would get him. Another team could have claimed him before Dallas.

Exactly. For weeks people have been on here screaming for an OT. So Dallas gets an OT and they are still pissed off.

Nobody was giving the Cowboys an all pro starter. Jones was the best they could have done.

100%......I mean, let's at least wait and see what their plans. Hell, this time last year, many were laughing and mocking the Pickens trade. I'm willing to give the coaching staff at least the benefit of the doubt.

I don’t have an issue with trading. But if you are going to trade, do it for a guy who can actually play and help your team

The only possible saving grace is if Klayton Adams did a deep dive of every snap the guy has ever had and said “I promise I can fix him”.

Which is very possible. His athleticism and being a great locker room guy is harder to instill in a player than having to correct them for having wide hands, bends too low and the rest of the knocks on him. The neck thing does worry me. These owners play by different rules than we do. Who knows maybe this is a little payback to the Steelers for giving us an all-pro quality WR for next to nothing.

Will McClay and the Cowboys scouts probably loved Jones when he was coming out of college. The kid was the 14th pick in his draft class. Unfortunately for the Cowboys. offensive tackle is probably the biggest weakness on the roster. For those complaining about a 3rd round pick, the Cowboys will probably get that pick and more back after we trade Pickens next offseason. The Cowboys will tag and trade him.

Seeing how they never had the starting projected 5 OL in a full game, and most games had a back up in at one of the positions.
It is amazing how the offense still produced.
Too bad the defense let them down.

Matter of fact they never had the projected starting 5 in all but maybe 10 games the past 5 years.
But were a top offense all those years.

Yes, continuity was an issue last season, but Terrence Steele was exposed, and Guyton was a disappointment

To brush it all aside because “they produced anyway” is to use some serious rose colored glasses

Go back and watch the season. You will regularly see the following issues on offense: penalties, slow starts in the first half of games, red zone inefficiency etc

The Cowboys know Jones is better than Thomas, better than Shelton. He will be the swing tackle, and after he gets all his strength back, a real competition for Steele. Thats all you need to know.

Every team has areas they need to improve upon. Red zone is that area for the Cowboys. But a similar offensive performance to last year would be a good thing.

But poor pass protection can be the achilles heel. Hoping that Jones turns into an amazing acquisition, Guyton turns the corner, and Steele regains his form from 4 years ago lol

The Steelers were not actively shopping Broderick Jones. The Cowboys were said to have initiated the trade talks. Jones would not have become available for nothing because Pittsburgh had no intention of cutting him.

I'm not worried about what people think of him all I know is I guarantee this and I'm not over there but I don't need to be over there to understand this team and how teams operate Adams Schottenheimer and Will Mcclay saw a need just like we did at tackle they went to Jerry and they had a list and they consulted and said we can work with this guy Adams and Riley or whatever the other guys name is for the offensive line they're the ones who know about these players and whether they can work with them or not it doesn't matter what fans and media think it's the worst thing to do is like well we saw what he did over there yeah the same team the Pittsburgh Steelers who gave up on George Pickens it happens all the time draft picks get in a low and they're not very good and the team gets rid of them and they go somewhere else and they actually can sometimes reignite their career...


Want to hear what fans think because they're listening to media and they are looking at what this guy did or didn't do in the past all I know is Jerry didn't wake up and this guy's name was at the top of his mind that did not happen This was something from the coaching staff who probably took it to Will Mcclay and they did research you know they didn't do this on a whim and they think they can work with the guy so they asked Jerry to go ahead and make the trade that's how it works you think Jerry and Steven are doing all these things and it just seems really dumb no that is not how it works they do consult and when it's a name like this that's probably not at the top of anyones list it came from the coaching staff..

Exactly. Gary was either going to get traded or the Packers were going to keep him, same as the Steelers with Broderick Jones.

If we accept your point that Jones is a ‘question mark’, then that, by nature, means we literally don’t know yet whether adding him helps us or not.

A trade that could involve a swap of as few as 10-20 places, and one 6th when we had two anyway, isn’t exactly high stakes gambling.
