FEATURED Cowboys players released

Sam had a good game against the Saints. It may have saved him. But he is a DE, not a LB. If they don't plan on keeping him on the LOS then they should attempt a trade. A team playing a 4-3 might be willing to take him for a 6th round pick.
The fact Williams played into the 4th quarter of the last preseason game says it all. He's a former second round pick so getting a sack and TFL against New Orleans' third string offensive line isn't that impressive. If they can trade him for a 7th round pick Dallas would have pulled off highway robbery.

These eleven were probably the guys the Cowboys knew were gone. Maybe some last minute deliberations going on with the other cuts. Maybe they are working the phones trying to trade a few of them as well, be it for picks or another player.
Yep, been following the cuts as they come in--very slowly. No team has cut down to 53, or even close to 53 yet.

BTW, both Packers' RB Josh Jacobs and Denver OLB Jonathon Cooper have been placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List. Meaning, they're in limbo for now.

He played 3-4 OLB in college...

As a reminder, players with fewer than 4 accrued NFL seasons are subject to waivers and can be claimed by the other 31 teams.

Players who already have 4 or more accrued NFL seasons are released and not subject to waivers. They can immediately sign with any team they wish (or have an understanding their former team will re-sign them prior to game 1 or at some point early in the season).

Practice Squad players can be elevated to the game day roster 3 times without having to go through waivers again. After that, the player would have to be signed to the active roster to appear in a game and be subject to waivers again if the team wanted to put him back on the Practice Squad.

There are 2 Injured Reserve Eligible to Return spots available today.

These 2 spots don't have to be on the initial 53 man roster for a day or go through waivers and can be activated after sitting out 4 games.

Any other players will need to be on the initial 53 man roster for a day before being eligible to go on IR/Return. Teams can place up to 8 players on IR/Return and playoff teams receive an additional 2 spots.
