FEATURED *** Dallas Cowboys Initial 53-man roster ***

From what I’m reading a back up QB has not been named I would expect they wait until close to game day
With the rules, Dallas can take both to every game, one as the designated emergency QB.

It'll be Dak, to Howell, to Milton.

That’s your opinion . They will probably go to game day to name the back up . I say it’s Milton . We shall see

Trigg had zero shot after his preseason performance. He does have some talent. He should make it to the ps

That's not what they need. They need a blocker first and foremost as the 3rd guy.

And he's not ready to run routes against first team defenders.
Yeah remember that when Ferguson gets dinged up and no production from the TEs during the season

If I had to make a 16 man practice squad just based off the players cut today, I would bring back Izzy Abanikanda, Phil Mafah, Anthony Smith, Jordan Hudson, Michael Trigg, Trevor Keegan, Shiyaz Pete, Nick Leverett, Tommy Dunn, Jay Toia, Isaiah Land, Justin Barron, Julius Wood, Zion Childress, Reddy Steward, and Josh Butler.

But some other teams' cuts are going to end up there instead of a few of these guys.

Not a single cut that Cowboys fans should lose any sleep over. Rest easy my friends
Correct. I think Dallas has vastly improved the D, has only one significant weakness on O, and that's Steele. I will admit, while I expected him to get cut, I would have like to see Pete make the roster. If there is any way they can keep him on a practice squad, I think at his size he's worth the risk. Remember Nate Newton was bad at first and worked his way to all pro status.

I found one rookie 4th round pick that was cut before opening day.

I’m not high on Shelton at all, but cutting him was never gonna happen.
Shelton is worthy of adding to that list. He is beyond terrible. He's regressed since Penn State. LOL I get it though. Hard to cut a guy that you just drafted with a 4th round pick...

Astonishing to me that neither Blue nor Mafah is there.

As others have said, though, this is just the initial 53-man, and not the final one.

Knowing Schottenheimer’s attempt at carrot-and-stick (particularly with Blue), I can only imagine that he’s left them both out to try to motivate them to grab the bull by the horns in the final pre-season game.

It’d honestly amaze me if we only kept three RBs and neither of those lads made it. That would seriously call into question Schottenheimer’s schtick that, ‘we’re going to run the football’.

Can only hope that’s all it is.

Sure, Luepke might get more use, but we need to be using the young guys who have looked decent this off-season and pre-season.

Peat. Size? 6-9, 309 is lightweight for OG.

I see CB as being a definite spot for a pickup

Here are the one’s from CB deep teams that I’ve been tracking. All will be definite upgrades to our depth.

Go get em Cowboys

Jets:
  • Jordan Clark (cut) - plays special teams and is better than our CB5/6. He was headed for a cut until Ponds got hurt. If Ponds goes on IT, Clark makes the 53.
  • Mory Bomba (put on IR) - he was going to make their 53 but he got hurt. They may try to sneak him past waivers. He would be a great pickup but they may just make him one of their 2 IR stashes
Seahawks
  • Noah Igbinoghene (cut) - he’s athletic and plays special teams but may be vulnerable because to keep him, the Seahawks would likely have to cut a 2026 draft pick. He’s the type of veteran Parker might consider. We mocked Diggs for that one lowlight but Seahawks fans were really impressed with him in his debut and he might push this guy out
Chiefs:
  • Kristian Fulton - (pending- they’re still trying to trade him) this is a longshot but he’s a guy teams will be watching. The Chiefs signed him to a big contract but he’s on their bubble. They are trying to go with younger players and he has slipped in camp below younger, cheaper players. Classic sunk cost fallacy test for the Chiefs. They could be dug in because they paid him so much. They’d probably like to trade him but no one is likely to do it because they’d have to eat his bad contract. If he’s actually cut, there are a half dozen teams, including the Cowboys, who would be calling his agent before midnight
Clark is a slot guy the equivalent of Reddy Stewart. Cowboys wanted outside CBs which is why Carson & Speed are still on the roster.

Igbinoghene is an ex-cowboy. They didn't keep him the last time.

Fulton's problem is the money. First year is ok with th sb money already paid but the second year he has another ten million due with five million of it guaranteed.
