FEATURED *** Dallas Cowboys Initial 53-man roster ***

We only have 2 running backs on the roster and a fullback? That seems like a disaster waiting to happen...

The surprises for me are Cornelius over Keegan or Leverett, that we actually cut Sam and kept the better player in Wheat and Speed and Carson over Steward, I expect something to change at the corner position.
Cornelius has been good all through camp and preseason. He still should be a prospect at RT even though they didn't play him there. I think Keegan has been highly over rated. Leverett now has been a surprise. Hopefully he gets to the practice squad.

I had Cornelius on the roster until this last preseason game, which I think he missed because he was banged up. I liked Keegan and Leverett's play as well. I'm OK with keeping Cornelius instead, and I expect Leverett to make the PS. I think Keegan might be claimed since we claimed him last year when Philly waived him.

6 safeties and 5 cornerbacks.

That's a sure sign they are concerned about those spots.

They kept 4 OT players and only one G/C hybrid behind the two starting guards.

I have a feeling the roster will change some before season starts.
Of course it will.

Moves that make me happy:

1) Keeping Camden Brown. He deserved a spot.
2) Keeping Tyrus Wheat over Sam Williams. Wheat outplayed Williams and showed up with pressure in every game. Plus, like Williams, he is a core special teammer.
3) Keeping Ajani Cornelius. He played well, but I thought he was going to lose out to Keegan or Leverett.

Moves I don't like:

1) Keeping Drew Shelton over Trevor Keegan or Nick Leverett. I know why we did it, he was a fourth-round pick and would possibly get claimed because of it, but he didn't deserve a spot.
2) Keeping Caelon Carson over Reddy Steward. Carson was one of our worst corners in the games.
3) Keeping Alijah Clark over Julius Wood. This one is minor for me because I believe they are of similar value, but I though Wood outplayed Clark.

You really shouldn't be keeping extra OGs over depth at OT either.

Reddy is a slot guy, they clearly wanted to keep the outside depth guys. Although I could see more moves change that up.

Clark is a FS, he can cover. Wood is a SS and his coverage ability is just a tad better than fellow SS Bell. He's very stiff in the hips. A forward player, not good going backwards.

Admittedly playing with back ups against back ups against the Saints but that last drive down 3 two mins left the offense under Howell went nowhere .

Right now, I don't see Shelton as depth at OT. If he's in the game, it will be Chaz Green all over again. Again, I understand why we kept him. He needs work on his strength and on his technique, but he has good movement skills and was a fourth-round pick.

The final offensive possession was a terrible one for the offensive line, and especially Shiyazh Pete. If he doesn't make the PS, I think that will play a part in it. I don't think he was even out there until then.

Those are fair observations, although I don't consider Carson to be much depth. Same with Shelton. They are just bodies right now.

Jaden Smith killed that final drive. Should have caught that pass on 4th down. Yes it was in traffic but it's a play NFL receivers have to make.

Hmmm, how did Mingo and brown make it? So many experts from the zone kept telling me he will easily clear waivers and be on practice squad. I am ecstatic both of them made the team.
The team obviously didn't feel the same way. Brown might have cleared waivers, but why risk it?

happy for Camden Brown,we need to poach a RB.
I don't think we do. I think we'll get both Mafah and Abanikanda to the practice squad. Then, we can call up a back for six weeks with both on there, and possibly add one of them to the 53 if a spot opens.

The fact that Drew Shelton made the team is completely laughable.
Why would they have cut him? That's a serious question. He was drafted with the intent of vying for a starting OT spot next year. A year to learn the NFL game and hit the weight room. We just drafted him only four months ago and we should cut him?

It's two weeks until the Giants. If you read the title of this thread is says "initial" not "final".

Worst case, there will be a couple on the PS if we need one.
