Will Mcclay is very average,unfortunately we are stuck with him because his replacement will be much worse.his stubbornness in drafting injured players like Devin Moore who had a litany of injuries in College is maddening.

I was trying to be positive about Moore, but the list of players who were injury prone in college and then overcame it in the pro's is short indeed.

You can do this for all 32 teams in some fashion.

The issues are more with offseason free agency reluctance, which they finally set aside this past year.

I get what you are saying. The 2023 draft was a disaster. The last 3 drafts look a bit better although 2025 and 2026 are still question marks, IMO.

But they draft 3 RB, a spot they really needed to improve over the last 3 years and all 3 are gone. The 2025 draft was the one we really thought they needed to go RB early and they waited to get Blue and Mafah. Blue and Mafah are both gone now and the Cowboys are going with 3 RB including Hunter Luepke, a FB. That's some bad drafting for an important skill position.

The Mazi draft was bad in fact real bad with only Overshown showing much promise. And yes the 2nd round is our kryptonite for some reason .

What talent evaluator has 100 percent success? Every single team cuts tons of players every single year. It is clear as day that despite some misses, we have been drafting much better than we have in the past. Have we forgotten the special teams draft?

You mean like 17 of 26 players who were on defense last year or actually out of the NFL this morning?
Not that they have been cut but they are actually no longer NFL football players.

Is that perfectly normal?

Is this not a reflection upon Will McClay the highest paid non-GM in football?

I mean, let’s just say that even if 9 of those guys are his- wouldn’t you call that patently absurd?

It's never one person. There's an entire staff. Not to mention NEW coaches having input.

Your obsession over Will McClay isn't healthy. And you FAR over blame him when draft picks don't become ALL-PRO's.

McClay gets blamed for some things that aren't really his fault. That's because Dallas has a bizarre organizational structure.

Jerry Jones is still the general manager and has final authority over personnel decisions. Even when McClay is the personnel executive doing the day-to-day work, Jones has explicitly maintained that he makes the final calls.
