FEATURED *** Practice Squad Players ***

Pardon my ignorance...but how does that quailify as some "emergency QB rule"...if he has to be on 53?

Seems like just regular roster to me.

I think it's more to do with the players allowed to be dressed. I think it's usually like 45? Players I think who are allowed to be dressed in uniform on game day (with the others being in street clothes). The emergency rule allows the QB3 to be an extra exemption who can dress and doesn't count against the 45.

He counts against the 53, but not against the 46 for game day. Technically, you can take 48 players to games because the league decided to allow an emergency QB that doesn't count and allow 47 players that count if you take an eighth offensive lineman.

It’s nearly impossible. Cutting him would result in $34m in dead cap.

We would actually have to cut other players just to cut Steele
Many other huge contracts have been ditched. I know...usually QB spots that are mnore critical.

But to say it's it's impossible to do...is not true.

I feel the same about the looming Dak contract.

You can ALWAYS get pout of it...even if "devastatingly" expensive. Sometimes you HAVE to. Detorit, LA, GB...lots of teams have done it and still compete.

Exactly. I wasn't sure if exactly the number, but that's basically my understanding too.

Even though the active roster is 53 players, you’re only allowed to suit up 48.

That’s why you’ll hear them talk about “inactives” every week when they announce the lineups.

The emergency QB is exempt form the that so you basically get him “for free” but only if both of the other QBs are hurt during the game

Oh...darn. I thought 53 was the regular roster. Didn't know you can only bring 46-ish into the stadium.

When there are 22 starters...plus 2-3 specialty (kicker/punter/ect) ...

allows less than 20-ish subs?

I know Im dense but I still don't get it.

The Cowboys aren't cutting Steele. I get you clearly don't like him. The Cowboy do or they would have moved on. Additionally, have you considered the salary cap implication of cutting him?
Never had any real problem with Steele. But something happened over the offseason. He's never looked this bad in camp.
