Schottenheimer: Broderick Jones to compete for starting RT job

A couple days ago there were rumors the Cowboys were the ones to call the Steelers about Broderick Jones. Pittsburgh was not actively shopping him until Dallas made them an offer.

Now we know why. If they were happy with Steele they would not have done this. Jones was clearly someone the coaches and scouts had their eye on. And once it became clear something needed to be done at RT they went out and got him.

Well he didn't come here to compete for a rb spot.

Schotty doesn't show his hand.

This offseason/training camp was going too well and the Cowboys had to make this stupid trade to remind us they're still the Cowboys.

If Broderick Jones plays well and forces Steele to the bench or even off the team, none of y'all will care about the 3rd and 6th for a 4th.
Correct but that's a huge IF coming from a possible cut due to his current performance in camp and preseason to "hey we can trade him for a 3rd".... great! Wishing him the best but tired of the medical moves the FO always seems to make and then hope the player comes back to pre-injury form in this century!

Don't worry he was checked by our world class doctor, he said he was fine so we made the deal lol
Yes, you are correct. Is that the same doctor who did physicals for JSmith, Revel, Schoonmaker, and almost Crosby? Hmmm....

All I read from Steeler nation is that he was better on the left side.

The people behind the Drew Shelton selection managed to convince Jerry Jones that they can fix Broderick Jones.

And since the GM nor the Director of Player Personnel have no real background in personnel they are left to trust them.

Yeah, because Thomas not only didn’t improve, he got worse. So much so that the team shipped him out.
But that itself shows the pent up demand for OLine bodies... there are just not enough

I like seeing this because, if for no other reason, it signals that the coaching and medical staff obviously know something that isn’t available to the fans of either team.

That, of course, implies that the coaching and medical staff know what they’re are doing.

Whose decision was it to extend Steele rather than just cut him this offseason?
