RELEASED Cowboys release Joe Milton; added to PS

I saw his tape he has some incredible tools. I understand why 9ers and Shanahan were arrogant enough to do it. I wouldn't have traded all of that though if he fell to me is one thing to trade all of that you had to be for sure he was can't miss and he wasn't.

It's one thing to get outplayed by someone you didn't see coming, but he legit sucked. Really shocked shanahan made that big of a blunder.

Sam Howell has more starting experience but Milton has more upside that would be trade bait if he is given opportunities in games. Demacardo is a solid change of pace back. However, he has never carried the weight of a running game. So giving up a QB is crazy for a RB. RBs are all over the league and out the league.

Landry, Johnson, and Parcells always carried 3 QBs for a reason.

I will not because they took the risk at all.

It’s relevant because we are not trying to develop a QB in the same way Green Bay does or other teams do.

And it's irrelevant because either is just a backup.

silly, there were other fringe players they could have cut if they thought he had long term potential - you dont cut a potential future starting qb to keep a 6th WR or 7 CB....i dont buy it

Except he's shown no signs of being a long term starting QB.

Because Milton can't run the offense. Howell just got here and runs is more pure than him already.

A backup's job is to not turn the ball over and calm the storm when the starter is out. Just make the basic plays and play well enough to win. It's no time for theatrics.

I doubt any team will open up a 53 spot for him. He's going to be on a practice squad here or somewhere.

Probably, but being we gave up a 5th last year and a few other teams were interested would have thought with a nice preseason a team would have kicked a 6th to avoid a waiver claim. I guess we'll see if he gets claimed.

to be honest, what was the upside? he is 26, and had a long way to go. keep him for what? another couple of years, for him to learn? and then give him starter reps for him to learn in real games. by the time he would be ready if everything went perfect, he would be 29. you don't build around a 29 year old.

we are in a win now mode. need reliable back up. Howell is way more reliable of course.

I just think people fell in love with the pretty spiral and made projections.
