I am ok with Sam Howell

Howell is a much better QB than Cooper Rush ever was. Howell has a lot of mobility,...Cooper had none. Howell has decent pop in his arm, Rush never did. For Rush everything had to be just perfect around him to succeed,....Howell has the ability to create something out of nothing. I always like Rush as a backup, Smart player, knows his limitations and plays to his strengths,....its just that Howell is much better and gives our offense a much better chance of producing points. That said........we should all hope that Howell never has to play a meaningful snap this season.

While Milton is the more gifted raw athlete, Howell is honestly better at almost every actual aspect of playing quarterback. I was surprised by his command of the offense, and I didn't realize he had that kind of mobility (he actually logged more rushing yards in his last 12 college games than Milton did in his entire 40-game collegiate career). While it's fun to watch Milton throw 80 yards downfield, Howell can step in right now, distribute the ball efficiently, and minimize turnovers. In the words of Mike Zimmer: "We see them every day in practice." I trust the coaching staff here. Hopefully Joe makes it to our practice squad; if not, we'll bring in another practice squad QB, and I wish him the best moving forward.

Bringing in another QB could be an option, Dallas wants to keep 3. Joe supposedly put them in this situation, the same way he put NE in a situation.

I actually like this. Milton is the type who will fold against challenging teams. Sam is the type that will scrap it out in a battle regardless who it is. In a battle, sam may have something like 2-3 int, but will also have 4-5 TD in the same game. Milton wont give you that. Sam has some of that vintage Kirk Cousins dawg in him. I like the move.

When sams back is against the wall he will put on the boxing gloves. He felt that way against Milton after the first 2 preseason games, and we seen what he did in the 3rd game (had some not so good plays, but he was letting that arm go to battle back into the game).

I am betting the cowboys wanted to see how Sam would perform under pressure, and they got their answer, not to mention he has shown that in real game action on other teams.

When it comes down to it, I want a QB that isnt afraid to put the ball in the air. Milton isnt safe, nor is he a chance taker.

Don't worry, it was the right move.

I would like to see the Qb with the much higher ceiling. Otherwise the roster cuts we’re spot on. If Joe makes it to the practice squad, then im ok with it.

All sam showed was that he can play in preseason, and in one regular season game where the bills didn't even try.

Well if you have seen Howell play both in college and in the NFL he simply makes better decisions with the football and he doesn't lock on receivers the way Milton did. Howell is consistently average, Milton is consistently inconsistent.

I don't think this thread was intended to bash Milton. You don't have to do that to defend the decision to make Howell our QB2. Milton could have just as easily been an excellent QB3.
