Broderick Jones' nugget about his struggles

I wish he woulda said "you know what....I just sucked. They gave me every opportunity, and I just didn't play well. I'll do everything in my power to play better, and if I don't, it's on me"

But no.

It was something THEY did

He'll fit right in.

I can't read the X messages (thanks Elon) but Jones is coming into a contract year of course he doesn't want to be label as a swing tackle. Guy is trying to get paid and hopefully the motivation is there on his end.

At least you would think that is the case.
If you can read the tweets it's something on your end.

Yeah, this is why this move just doesn't work for me. His biggest complaint is having to switch sides....and we need a swing T. It makes no sense. Now, hopefully he can beat Steele out, but then that means Steele is our swing T. Can you imagine him at LT if something happens to Guyton? I am guessing in that case they would move Tyler Smith to LT and put Bass at LG.

Yep I dunnno though. Let’s say Jones beats out Steele, and Steele becomes the swing.
Steele absolutely sucked at LT and Guyton even if much improved, still has a decent chance of missing some games

I just don’t feel as if they solved the problem, but what do I know? Problem is people around here are right more often than the FO.
It seems that they brought Wanya Morris to the practice squad as a backup left tackle while they try to develop Shelton.

I'm guessing Steele is cut if Jones takes his job. He has zero value to this team as a backup...

Based on 2026 Cowboy record how do you know how many spots you lose in making this trade . And who knows about 6th rounders who’s left , unfortunate they bore you .
Sturm

Using 2026 prices
, Dallas sent away picks 76 and 193 for Pittsburgh for 121. That means Dallas sent away 210 pts and 14.2 for a total of 224.2 points in exchange for 52 points. The net loss of 172 points or roughly pick No. 84 which is a mid-round 3rd.

Dallas got Barham round three and he hasn’t played a real game yet but he looks like a LB with anger instead of Sanborn Murray etc . So to me if Jones is a one year rental then you better draft an OT possibly round one especially with no three . I’m curios if Sturm liked the trade.

It would be like a $34m dead cap impact
I doubt they care, especially with him fighting for his job now. It seems they are finally making football decisions to win games without worrying about the impact on contracts.

The only way to absorb Steele’s $17.4 2026 dead cap hit would be to drive Bland and Fergusons base down so far this year that you could push $12m into the void years on their contracts, pretty much guaranteeing them both until 2029.

Beyond that, I think the only guy who can be restructured that hasn’t been restructured this year, is Hooker and he wouldn’t save enough to bother with.

In typical cowboy fashion, I'm sure he'll dominate and win the RT job, get a big contract from the Jones boys in the off-season, then will go back to sucking again next year
After the way this offseason transpired, im not to sure about that.

I'm gonna trust that Clayton Adams saw something there in Jones and will get the most out of him.

Shotty forgot to add….he can’t block.

Being willing to listen and try isn't the same as being able to learn. Jones clearly has a disconnect between coachability and application. I'm hoping that he's just a slow learner and all the coaching he's received and what he receives here will click into place for him.

So the swing they dealt for wants to play only one side.

Great.
He’s simply embracing what the coach said. The head coach told him he’s a right side T, told Steele and the media he’s here to compete at RT. So what’s he supposed to say? Steele is the starting RT. I don’t expect to see anything of Jones until maybe Oct at the earliest.
