Practice Squad Joe Milton Signed to Practice Squad

To be fair to Milton, he never really had to read a defense until he got to the NFL. Ran the spread offense at Tennessee with pre-determined reads. And when the play had to be changed he just got a signal from the coaches on the sideline to switch it. All he had to do was hit whoever was open.

His learning curve was steep coming in. He's actually gotten far, all things considered.
You’re conveniently leaving out the part where spent SIX years at 2 different schools and could only earn the starting QB spot his final year.

Playing QB is hard, not many people on earth are capable of doing it at a high level. And Joe Milton just isn’t 1 of those guys. Heck of an athlete, but not a QB.

OK it all worked out. Why cut Milton and keep some other worthless players is still a Jerry Dumbo GM Jones move.

Milton is 1 disastrous play away from going being what he was last year. Landry, Johnson, and Parcells kept 3 QBs. They won Super Bowls. Jerry Dumbo GM Jones has had 30 years of more non-winning seasons than winning seasons with no divisional round wins as owner, GM, and HC.

Doesn’t he have to be on the 53 before game day? The emergency QB can’t be one of the players activated from the PS before the game starts.

He’s basically the scout QB.
That is correct. Only a QB on the 53 doesn't count against the game-day roster as the emergency QB. If he's called up, he'd take up an active roster spot.

Now, I'm curious if the way around that might be to make Howell the emergency QB since he's on the 53, but I don't know if that loophole is allowed or if we'd even want to take it.

Yup.

His scouting report was not good.

He did seem to improve this offseason though.

But Dallas does not love the kid.

They cut him for a scrub RB3.

Wrong? How so? I was only wrong in that I didn't think he would not be picked up. YOU are a Dak stan who thought Milton was garbage...and he by all accounts threatened a veteran who has tons of experience for the #2 job.
Haha, you’re funny. Find one post about my feelings on Milton. You won’t find ANY. You were definitely wrong about Milton and my statement is based on how the rest of the NFL treated Milton after he was out on waivers. It has nothing to do with Dak and I don’t give two poops about all the fluff about Dak being threatened. Milton is not a threat to any starting QB in the league and mostly likely not to any backup.

You're putting words in my mouth. Desperate for attention. Not taking the bait.

That said, your "garbage QB" seriously threatened the veteran, more experienced guy you laud. At least my argument is cogent...start there. :)

at least that drama is over. good to have him back he has looked a little better then last year. how much less is milton going to make on the practice squad verses the active roster?

At least Joe didn't get left off the Cowboys entirely! I'll take it and hope he makes the most of it.
I'm satisfied that he improved his performances enough for the Cowboys to keep him in house.
If he keeps developing as he impressively he has since last year, no telling what might happen! :flagwave:

I don’t have a garbage QB, or any for that matter. I’m really confused by your argument. I never brought up Dak and never called Milton garbage. Perhaps you’re getting me confused with another poster. That might explain it, I hope.

Fans here value him more than 31 other teams, including some carrying 3-4 QBs on their 53 currently.
All fans of Milton should realize what this says, but evidently they dont.

Milton has only played well against the Arizona backups lol. He did look good in that game, but you have to realize that it was a bad teams bkups.
He did not do well against the Seahawks or Saints bkups .

He is in no way ready to be a competent starter in NFL.Maybe someday.

I don't really get the argument for Milton. Sure. he has looked better this pre-season or at least he did against a raggedy Cardinals pre-season team. I know he has a cannon arm but the dude has pretty much sucked up until that moment; now all of the sudden he is the future savior??? It's "Quincy level" hysteria. It's probably better to just move on.

If he comes back to save us from world failure this season, I'll eat crow.

Since he cleaned waivers from every team in the league, does that mean we can trade him for a 1st round pick again?!?!?!

Cool. If you didn't, then my bad.
