What's your story? I started playing football in 1975, that winter, I became a Cowboys fan when I saw the Hail Mary pass! No one in my family really cared about the sport, so the next 51 years I've been on this Cowboys roller coaster, pretty much by myself, my wife joined me 36 years ago. Many of you know, football shaped my life and to this day, 10 years after my retirement, it continues too do so. Go Cowboys, Salud to all of you guys for sticking by a team that makes it tough on its fanbase. Just a few more days, I CAN'T WAIT!
Please share your thoughts.
 
My football season now starts at 7am with good morning football, lurking and stirring the pot on CZ, watching HS game film for some of my former staff, watching former player's kids MS and HS games, college games on TV and of course every NFL game available in my area. Sounds like a bit much, but it's just a way of life for me.

My sport was baseball. Pitched and played 2nd base. Coaches overpitched me early on and threw out my shoulder at age 12. Never got my velocity back. Played a lot of intramural sports while in the Marines. But football was/is my favorite sport and have been a Cowboys fan since Christ was a Cpl.

Did you check out the Colorado vs Georgia Tech game last night? Great game to start out the college season. However Sanders looks more and more like a figure head. He lets his coordinators call plays but seems like he should be more active roaming the sidelines. Maybe I’m over thinking it.

My dad was a cowboys fan in Steelers country in western pa. He loved them (Landry, staubach, dorsett--who was also a western pa kid), so I did as well. Our first real game together watching then on tv was The Catch. I was a six year old who went to bed crying. I've been hooked every since.

Yea, I agree about Deion, but many coaches become figure heads for recruiting purposes.

And the 2 no catches. Jackie Smith’s drop. Instead of a game-tying touchdown, the Cowboys had to kick a field goal and ultimately lost the game 35–31. And then the Dez no-catch that was a catch.

Football it’s a way of life, absolutely
Just like getting up every morning, and working out, it’s a lifestyle

I grew up on baseball and basketball. Was recruited by a couple of really small schools for basketball, but stayed home and went to the university of Louisville even though I’m a diehard Kentucky basketball fan.

We played a lot of sandlot football (tackle only) from 7-8 years old all the way into my late 20’s. I became a Cowboys fan with NFL films in the late 70’s when I was 5 or 6. I always loved the game and team. Dorsett was my favorite player and Tony Hill was my second as a kid. *I cried on “the catch”.


I didn’t get to really enjoy the 90’s dynasty as a fanatic because I was so into basketball at that time and held a grudge against Jerry for firing Tom.

Early 2000’s I became a diehard again and broke my finger (later) open hand smacking a cooler full of beer and ice when Barbie Carpenter intercepted Romo. I have since learned cooler violence solves nothing.

The Cowboys are in the cusp of a very good season and it’s been long enough…
 
I was conceived under the bleachers at the HS homecoming game. My first words were "the Commanders suck". I got expelled from kindergarten for beating some loser wearing a Giants jersey. That's where i learned that life isn't fair. I mean, on what planet should it not be OK to beat up a Giants fan?

So yea. Football has shaped my life.

Oh yea, I was also captain of the football team in reform school!

I became a lifelong Cowboys fan when I was 6 y/o, watching with my dad as the Cowboys beat the Dolphins in January 1972. My favorite sport has always been football. I played it as soon as I was allowed in 5th grade, until my senior year in high school. I joined the military after high school, but I caught every Cowboys game as I moved from country to country throughout my 20-year military career. Here I am, 20 years after retiring from the military and still as diehard a Cowboys fan as ever. Nothing beats a Cowboys Super Bowl victory, and I can't wait for #6. :flagwave:
 
Became a Cowboys fan when Roger was drafted by the team. My uncle was his teammate at the Naval Academy. I was introduced to him and became a fan the minute I met him. It inspired me to follow my football dreams, which I did all the way to playing four years at Rutgers. My NFL dream ended in the training camps of the NYG and Washington. I did coach for many years though.

He was good at it. I was in San Angelo once and some of my colleagues wanted to meet Mack, I told them, just go up to him. They didn't want to bother him, I walked up to him and said, Hey Mack....he turned, glanced at my name tag and said, hey, Gus...damn you guys had a he'll of a season. How have you been? I had never met him, he made me feel like an equal. About an hour later I'm drinking beer and talking football with him, Wade, Saban and Tuberville. That's why they win, they know how to play the game. Let the assistants coach and provide them direction and a kick in the azz when needed.
