Troy’s timing and accuracy would lead to success in any era.

In the modern era, where defenders can’t put their hands on receivers and crush their skulls like back in the day? Troy would feast on passes over the middle. Slants, digs, etc. all game long.

Plus Troy had good movement skills and was athletic before his back injuries.

He would put up MVP numbers if he played today with a good supporting cast. I don’t doubt that at all.
 
Tony, Troy, Dak

Troy had the absolute perfect situation. A lot of QBs could have thrived on that team.

Tony and Dak never had that, although Dak has a great situation now. Tony did in 2014, but he was pretty beat up by then.

Troy was the least mobile and threw the worst deep ball. Great leader, but very robotic. It paired well with the greatest running game in football those years and a great defense as well.

Romo had the best touch and ability to read defenses and throw all routes accurately. He moved in the pocket brilliantly.

Dak has improved quite a bit, but still needs to throw accurately and on time in the biggest moments. He has every chance to get it right this year.

Add White, Meredith, and Morton, and the Cowboys have had an embarrassment of riches at the position.

I think Dak is more mobile than Troy so I’d give him the edge. I think if Dak had all the hall of famers Troy had he would’ve had a ring.

Troy is tougher than Romo. Romo had 12 Pro Bowlers and was mid against the Giants in 2007.

Romo never took football serious. Maybe he did as a backup but I can’t trust him more than Troy. Troy and Dak prepped a lot better than Romo. Romo kind of stays in cruise control
And plays just good enough until he fumbles a snap or throws a late game interception.

He did have a great situation but he would absolutely kill with his timing and accuracy in today's league. He was also the unquestioned leader and field general of that team. I give him the edge over Tony due to that.

I could see Dak over Tony, but over Troy? Nah, can't agree. Troy had nerves of steel and was laser accurate. His numbers won't reflect with today's passers but you and I both know that today's game is not the game Troy got to play in...when the best pass defense was to remove the WRs head and you basically got an NBA travel's worth of time after the ball was released to pulverize the qb.

His ability to run
The fact that quarterbacks are totally protected now and receivers are completely unmolested.
He would be a runaway train coming from an era where it was much more difficult to play quarterback.
The same holds true for Troy aikman and even Danny White.

Dak and Romo played in a Time when it was much easier on the quarterback rules are geared to protect them and enhanced scoring.
They might let Romo carry Rogers spit bucket. Dude was the Pillsbury doughboy compared to Roger's elite physical conditioning.
