Cowboys Special Edition - Talking OT and Defense

I made a comment in a thread yesterday about this.

Nate Newton, Barry Church, Isaiah Stanback. All in agreement the OT position is not solidified and give good reasons why.
They did say if Guyton plays like they want, as to having a good TC. That is a huge plus.

They also talk highly of the expectations on Defense and what Parker brings.

Dumb front office and coaches should have kept Brock Hoffman and placed him at Left Guard which he played some during college. Move Tyler Smith to his natural college position at Left Tackle. Then move Tyler Guyton to his natural college position at Right Tackle.

Since his injury, too many. This is what, his 3rd year since it happened. S 2 years removed from that.
Hopefully they addressed that with acquiring Jones. Only x=can sit back and wait and see.

I think by mid year, if not around game 5 or 6. We could see a change there. But we have no idea how Jones will be.
Can't see him being worse, depending if he got his strength back from his injury.

OT is still the worst part of the offense and it’s not even close.

Adams play action, the the interior oline, and Dak’s elite sack avoidance are the only thing that allowed last seasons offense to be successful as they were

All three tackles were horrible and other than hoping and praying Guyton has a breakthrough, they are again going to rely on Dak's presnap reads, Adams play action schemes and opponents respect do the run, and the interior oline’s ability to allow Dak to step up into the pocket.

OT has to be a very high priority in 2027. They had to wait until the fourth round to address it and even then they ended up with a player who so far appears physically weak they got bullied by other teams backups. Combine that with an underperforming rehab acquisition and there’s really no realistic help on the way this year.

The only option, short of despair, is to huff the hopium, so we’re going to have to strap on our mask and turned the knob up to 11.

Yes, but there’s only so much talent to go around, and you have to work with what’s available, there is not 32 superstars at each position in the league

I did some looking on that surgery and a surprising number of athletes come back a long way from it. Maye as many as half. So who knows?

He was correct and the front office has actually done a good job this year.

Last year actually set up this year and the future.

Don't get this talk of Guyton being a "natural right tackle". At this point in his football career he has more career games played on the left side than the right. At this point moving him back to a position he hasn't lined up at since his last game at Oklahoma would set him back, not settle him in.

Depends on this season. If Guyton struggles once again this 3rd season while playing Left Tackle, would you consider moving him to Right Tackle, or are you set on letting him continue to struggle or even fail at Left Tackle?

Similarly happened to Nate Newton. Cowboys started playing him at Left Tackle where he failed miserably. Then they moved him to Right Tackle where he struggled as well. Finally when they moved him inside to Left Guard is where Nate Newton became a 6x Pro Bowl selection and two first-team All-Pro honors at the position.

Sometimes the coaches get it wrong, and it takes time to move certain players to a different position to get the best out of them.

No kidding! I can't believe they don't pay attention to all of the professional knowitalls on the Cowboys message boards who obviously ummm know it all. What are those dumb professionals thinking.

He played ROT in college his senior year but it's not his natural OT position.
