But if that's what bothers you about Smith and think that brings embarrassment to the Cowboys, I don't know what to tell you.

Most fans have forgotten about Smith and can't muster enough emotions one way or the other about him. For you to harbor such bitterness over a guy like this at this point is just strange to me.

Bitterness disappeared when he was no longer allowed to wear the star. Oh what a happy day. I guess wearing the star just means more to me than you.

One of the worst knee injuries ever but it didn't stop Jerry from picking him in the 2nd round which was a horrible mistake, like many other second round picks Jerry has made.

Jaylon Smith stands pretty tall in the memories of SOME Cowboys fans.I remember the draft and was like...."you know he got his leg tore off, right?" Only thing holding it together was skin.

Then he came back...what after a year? Played fairly well...then "hot boys", then he started doing weird celebrations...like after jumping on a pile of already tackled and tacklers....then doing celebration.

Then his injury started showing wear and you could see him dragging ankle.

Of did i mentioned a huge Jerry Jones contract.

It's not bitter to remember Cowboys history...good or bad.

I mean in context to NFL players and the salary cap. Terrence Steele has made 51 million. Its a lot of money for sure. Its like saying someone isn't very good in the NFL. I mean his "isn't very good" makes him one of the best athletes and players in the country. But in the context of the NFL he isn't very good.

Yeah it was a risk. Probably a risk that had about a 2% chance of working out but I can't find it in me to knock him for taking chances and risks. That's what its all about. Actually its the risks he doesn't take that bothers me. I'd really forgo my future for now. He either doesn't seem to want to do it or hasn't done it yet....

Anyone watch this? I was utterly impressed with him. So well spoken, so bright, so positive.

They asked him to please explain what it was like playing for the Cowboys. He was clear... that "Cliche," Americas Team is real. The big lights, expectations.... he loved it all. Wants to retire a Cowboy. Said he weas so disappointed he didnt get to help bring a title home for Jerry. Another former player that simply had nothing but positive things to say about the Boys.

This kid was very smart.

I liked Jaylon as a human being. He just didn't have the needed skills. I was rooting for him to overcome his injury and develop into a great player. It just wasn't meant to be I guess.

I do too, but I'd doubt that will be an NFL career. He was cut by the Raiders in May of last year, and I don't think anyone else has signed him yet. I heard he's coaching high school football. If that's true, good for him. Even if things didn't work out for him in the NFL, I'd bet he'll be an excellent high school coach. He's a good guy. I would trust a kid with him.

If not for the injury Jaylon Smith would have been the best defensive player in the 2016 draft. But he never got back to his Notre Dame level. The nerve damage in his knee meant that he was playing on borrowed time even after he was cleared.

It's really a shame. He ended up being a solid player for a while but the Cowboys really overpaid him based off a "good" season. After that the knee woes just sort of kept on catching up to him.

Great person, great leader, would have been a cornerstone player here. Just more proof how fragile football careers can be.

i never saw a linebacker shy away from tackling like smith did. i always hated when tried to tackle a running back when the running back was already down.
