Caleb Downs named by executives as their pick to win DROY

It’s been 36 years since a safety won DROY and he had a truly monster, one for the ages, season.

I’m all aboard the Downs bandwagon but anyone expecting him to get a post season award is going to he disappointed

I spoke with nobody in particular and their consensus was Malachi Lawrence would be Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Who am I to say otherwise?

He'll have to lead the rookies in int's to win that.

Whichever one leads in sacks or int's will win it.

Maybe to win this award but as off as our defense looked last year just making sure everyone including him is in the right place might be more important for us than winning this award. This team needs leadership on the defense (secondary) and hoping he eventually turns into the one that leads them.

Also why do executives pick him? Are all these executives on teams that were not 10 picks before us? I really don't know how he even fell to 11 but I am so happy he did.
