Starting Defense Sunday Night

Just my thought. We are pretty deep at LB.

It depends on what alignment we're in. The depth chart shows the 3-4 alignment, but also throws in the NB, which will play in the nickel alignment.

When we use the 3-4, there are only a couple of questions for me. One is whether Downs will be out there when we use two safeties. The other is whether Barham will be out there as one of the four linebackers. I assume since they are rookies that they might not "start" because of that. So the 3-4 lineup for this week will probably be:

I expect by the 2nd quarter it'll be Durant and Revel on the outside with Bland inside as they will no longer be able to afford to keep Downs on the field.

I’ll be surprised if Downs doesn’t start AND play a majority of the snaps.

He'll play the majority of the snaps because we'll be in nickel at least 70 percent of the time. I haven't seen him listed at safety at all, though, just as the nickel back. That might be meaningless, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to limit the rookie at first and then work him up to taking over more of Hooker's snaps as the season progresses.

quality depth is a luxury in the NFL

Right now, on paper, DAL might have quality depth a few positions: WR, RB, DT, OLB, ILB, S

I am excited about the starters, but also the depth on Defense that DAL has put effort into building.

I don't know if "deep" is the word i'd use but there's some decent potential there but how good they are depends on how good Barnham ends up being and Overshown how healthy. The floor is much higher than last year but the ceiling is all health dependent.

I’m not gonna lie it looks rough to me maybe I’m just being negative bc I have been more positive throughout the offseason. Just more question marks than there are answers, that’s all
