QB play hasn't improved that much, but rules changes certainly made it easier for QB's like Dak to pile up stats. I've said it before and I will stand firm with this - if Dak had played in Staubach or Aikman's era's he would have been pummeled to a pulp and already retired by now. Making it to year 11 would have been a pipe dream.

I thought that's what we were doing? Making guesses and assumptions? Because ultimately we don't know. We don't know how Dak or anyone would've faired 30 years ago. I can see if you said Jay Cutler but there's nothing to suggest Dak wasn't tough enough to make it in that era.
I mean its failed many today. Not many have had the injury Dak has had and then go on to make an all pro. Alex Smith was never the same. Joe Theismann's career was over but that was at a time the surgery wasn't common so I get that.
So toss all of Mahomes' and Brady's and every other QB's numbers out the window too.

Hard to say. If Roger and Troy played in this era they would have spent more time in concussion protocol than any other players in team history. For instance, Aikman would not have been allowed to play in Super Bowl 28. He was still having headaches and nausea from a concussion he suffered in the NFC title game.

And that's the thing about doing the whole "This guy would do this in this era...." argument. Its only one sided. Nobody thinks of the other way around because people think todays game is easy. Easier? Maybe. Debatable. But we see quarterbacks in the 1st round drafted every year who flop. There's some disadvantages guys of todays game have against them like the concussion protocol. Guys simply don't have to play concussed.....well maybe unless if you're Tua and Dart they can't stay from the blue tint.
