Signed by Cowboys Cowboys extend Flournoy - 1 year $6m

I suppose the advantage for him would be to get an extension now so that if he was hurt this year he wouldn’t enter into his RFA year with no safety net.

Hell, I hope they do give him more money. I mean, they are giving BSF $12m guaranteed.
Yeah, but it's no advantage if there's no guaranteed money. He gets hurt this year, then they could cut him and owe him nothing.

I think he likely got some guaranteed money out of this, whether it was guaranteeing his salary this year as a "bonus" or giving him some upfront money this year or guaranteeing a portion next year.

It's happening!!!!

No idea what's happening but something's happening and wanted to be first to say it!

So, whatever happens next, I told you so! :D
Easy reality, pretty soon this would always happen and things would be called in the English words NORMAL!!! LOL

RFA deals are not guaranteed. 5th year tenders are fully guaranteed at time of exercising that tender.
Oops, that's right. I was thinking it was like the franchise tag and fully guaranteed. But they are not.

Still, there does not seem to be an advantage for Flournoy to agree to this extension unless there is guaranteed money involved.

I think we are Bank rolling money by doing these extensions. I bet it's for Pickens. Which could put a big name on the trade block. Could be for a db or Crosby but I doubt it. Common sense says it might be them getting ready to extend Pickens

Spann-Ford and Flournoy are perfect little deals that helps avoid going through all that in FA when they could likely want more.
Right, it removes Spann-ford from becoming an URFA and Flournoy would have been a RFA. Most likely tendered then the negotiation process.

Basically he has 2 prove it "more" years.

Bingo. By doing these extensions it adds more money to the available cap. I think it's for Pickens.
I don’t think it does. Flo is gonna cost $6 mil next year which eats into the cap. Even if they had added some this year, it would mean less to rollover for next year.

Good job by the front office with this deal and not wait until the last minute to take care of business.

I like Flournoy as a player & potential and want to see him contribute more to the offense.

I don't really understand why Flournoy would do this. He'd get at least that on the tender or as a free agent and he's cost himself a lot of money if he has a big year.

I suppose he could always sign an extension anyway, especially if he ends up traded, but this is an odd one to me.
Exactly my first reaction. Makes little sense.

Then again, I realize the stakes are different, but this does set him up for life if he has a serious injury (assuming it’s guaranteed for that) and doesn’t live extravagantly, but I still don’t see the logic overall.

Talk about betting against yourself. I wonder if he is truly worried about losing WR3 snaps to Brown.

Flournoy is the guy I probably would have liked to lock up a few more years vs 1, but nice to know we'll have him atleast this year and next.
