Schottenheimer and co. were out coached again. The Giants wanted to make a statement that they were improved over last year, and they did. The cowboys looked like they could just show up and win. Nope. Another long season is in the works.

That’s what you get when you go out and hire an actual head coach that knows what he’s doing and then put him against a staff like Schottenheimer‘s.

Reminded me of the Dallas offense in 2014, 2016 where the best defense for the team was owning the Time of possession.
It was obvious Giants were going to run it on certain downs/formations, but kept getting 4-5 yards a pop. Gave them very easy 3rd downs, when they hit them.

They put the ball on the ground five times
That’s five opportunities we had to take advantage of the turnover

No. It was the offense as well. That’s why I can’t stand it when the defense plays like trash. Everyone uses their play to shield the offense from criticism. Dak and company played poorly. That interception was embarrassing and led to the Giants scoring right before the half.

The answer was both easy and obvious.

Don't play soft. Take risks to pressure their young, inexperienced QB and force him to make plays instead of giving Harbaugh exactly the defense that made his offensive game plan work.

Make it a track meet. If Dart and his WRs outplay Dak, CD, and Pickens then we lose. At least that way we're playing our strongest hand.
