Fans blaming Dak

Do you always pick and choose one play to criticize most QBs? I’m sure you don’t. I know you’re much smarter than that.
I did not pose the question to you. You have not answered the question not posed to you.

My question was indeed about a single play, but you defined it as a criticism. My question was prompted because I seeked the thread creator's opinion. The thread creator stated,

"If you are blaming Dak for this loss....you should be banned from talking football. This defense was a sieve."
I prefaced my reply to the thread creator (which you quoted) stating it was not being presented as a critique of Prescott losing the game and acknowledged the defense's poor play during the game.

I sought to talk about football. Football involves numerous elements, of which include a quarterback's accuracy throwing passes.

I made two posts within this thread, literally entitled Fans blaming Dak, before my reply to you. I am a fan. I have not blamed Prescott in this thread. In fact, these are the sum total of my posts since the start of the game:

1. "Almost nothing disgusts me more than a receiver dropping a catchable pass." This was a criticism of George Pickens.

2. "Yep. May as well have taken a knee." This can be taken as a criticism of Brian Schottenheimer electing to end the half without trying for better field position to make a field goal attempt.

3. "haha. Maybe Mike Tomlinson hanging around the stadium is messing with George Pickens' inner joy. ...or at least I wished that was a reason for the drops." This was a half-<expletive> joke that was reaction to Pickens case of the dropsies.

4. "Trying to get back into the game. So you taunt. Dumb idiotic stupid nonsense." That was a criticism of Javonte Williams making a complete selfish decision committing a useless penalty BEFORE Brandon Aubrey attempted what should have been a routine extra point kick to get the team within seven points WITH A LITTLE LESS THAN 5 AND A HALF MINUTES LEFT IN THE <EXPLETIVE> GAME.

5. "You have been selling the conspiracy all game. I would buy into it more if I have not seen this same story for decades now." This was a reply to fellow member making an excuse for the TEAM'S poor play.

6. "Almost zero grit shown all four quarters." This was my reflection of the TEAM'S poor play.

7. "I hope the paintball culture gets installed before the season ends." This was my reflection of this franchise's culture that produced the execution and effort demonstrated in the game.

8. "...which nearly took three additional minutes to cement. Minutes that were becoming more and more precious trying to secure a comeback win." This was my response to another fellow member who did not also directly answer my question that you replied to.

9. "Please tell me you were also thinking of actress Parker Posey's name too. That would be genius." This was a reply to a fellow member making a playful criticism of Christian Parker's defense.

10. "That was a quick honeymoon." This was sarcasm of a fellow member for a completely obvious reason.

I will not stop making posts on this site regardless how anyone here might disagree with whatever I say. I will comment on any subject as I so choose. That includes any comments concerning Dakota Rayne Prescott. However, I must continually remind myself that CowboysZone will always be CowboysZone even when I ask a base football question related to him.

Dak has no excuse, he's eleven yrs in. And it has nothing to do with the latest loss. We've all seen the stare in the biggest moments before the choke takes place.

It's obvious to me that the defense is a work in progress.
I expect it will take more than a year to wash away the stink.

We'll get a clearer view about how much work has to be done (improvement) once the team moves further into the season.

In terms of Prescott, I feel he has reached his ceiling.
I agree Dak is at his ceiling. And his ceiling is a top 10 QB in the NFL. The 2 QBs that played in the Super Bowl last year....are they better thank Dak? Are either top 10 QBs? They answer to both is NO!!!! Which means the plight of your team does not rest SOLELY on the QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So let me ask you....since Dak is at his ceiling....what do you expect out him every week to feel like he did his job? Is it ZERO ints? Is it 3+TDs? Is it 65% completion percentage? Is it an offense that puts up 30 points? Not trying to win a debate...just curious as to what you think a great game from Dak looks like.

This defense did not give this team a chance!!!!!!!!!!!! What game were you watching?????
Does it have to be one or the other? Isn't it possible, and in this case even probable, that both the defense and the quarterback stunk?

The Cowboys and the Giants both had the same number of possessions in last night's game. I think you could make a very strong argument that Dart was significantly more effective managing his team's possessions than our 11th year veteran quarterback was. I'm not defending the defense, but this mindset that just because the defense was bad means Dak is automatically absolved of any responsibility just doesn't make sense to me and never will

He's getting paid $60 million per year. At bare minimum he needs to look better than Jaxson frigging Dart. And last night he didn't.

Let's take the loss and the poor play of the defense off the board for a second. One question. When the game was still in doubt, what is your opinion of Prescott's throw when Lamb got behind the defense for a sure touchdown?
Obviously an incorrect route by
Lamb. What other explanation could there be?

I wouldn't blame Dak for the loss. That'd be silly
The D got dominated.
But Dak did play a role and was nothing special, but not bad either.

I suspect some here who are pointing at him are just tired of the CONSTANT Dak-fluffer threads for the entire offseason.
And then those same Dak posters try every angle to tear down other QBs in the league to prop up their hero.
It gets to be so comically embarrassing.
I take no issue with your post. I am not a Dak lover or hater. I am a Dallas Cowboys fan first and foremost. And as I am following the game thread...and I am watching this defense look like junior high football...the amount of "dak sucks" responses was mind blowing. They are running it down our throat. Dart did not have to throw into tight windows because guys are running wide open...and response after response after response was about Dak...as if they are watching a different game!!!!!!!!!!

Coaching and game prep were the worst. But that doesn't excuse Dak. He had the deer in the headlights look early on and it never got better from there.

Disagree about the deer in headlights look. Also I didn’t excuse dak first comment made was about his horrible, horrible, decision making

6 offensive possessions.

Im gonna be repeating that all week.

This is what I tell my GF when I'm mansplaining her.... with my far superior male intellect, and all.
Looks like 7 by the recap, same amount as the Giants, unfortunately Dak set the tone again with stupid.

Yes both can be true. Dak was above average...not great. But the defense was downright awful. So if I sit down and look at the film of the game....my FIRST reaction after watching the film....would NOT be that the QB play was the primary reason we lost. Is that a fair or unfair assesment?

We had the Same number of possessions the Giants had.

They just did more with theirs

There are degrees of blame to go around.
Dak is about #3 or #4 on the blame list.
Besides, we all know Dak is NOT one to carry a team to a win. He never was and never will be.

He only had one mistake but it was huge. Instead of 7-7 or 10-7 Dallas going in at half we are down 14-7 and they are receiving for the second half. Dak wasn’t the defense that let them score in 3 plays.
Hopefully they talk less this week and realize the arnt all that. Look for Dak to be huge next game.

I think he has proven he can carry a team to a wins in the regular season. Heck he was dominant in the playoff win against the Buccaneers. But I agree he will not win 4 straight postseason games. But Sam Darnold just won a Super Bowl...do you think he carried the Seahawks to 4 straight postseason wins last year? We've known this about Dak for a long time...which is why the team around him (like is the case for MOST QBs) has to get better...and last night...their were ZERO signs that the team around him was getting any better!

It’s clear. Many people really struggle with comparison.

If you can’t see that the D was a MUCH bigger problem, and no 1 reason we lost, you’re one of those people.

*The goal in all these comparisons is to recognize worse and not select that or lamely attempt to equivocate it.

At face value it seems reasonable but it's probably clouded by your perspective. Just like my analysis probably is clouded by my perspective as well. To offer you a counter assessment, when I'm looking at the film of last night's game I would break it down into segments by halves. In the first half we had four possessions. Two punts, a touchdown, and a crushing interception that spotted the Giants a lead at halftime in a game that minimum should have been a 7-7 tie. If you take that last touchdown off the board the defense only allowed seven points in the first half before that game turning interception that was converted. That's a huge part of the game that can't be ignored. Then the Giants come out and score on their first possession in the second half and all of the sudden we're down 14. And then magically all of a sudden Dak starts lighting it up and we start scoring points.

You don't find that curious? You don't think it's possible that the Giants defensive approach changed once they had a 14-point lead mid to late third quarter?

Many people on this board automatically operate from a perspective of blame Dak first. You are correct about that. And that isn't right

But just as many, if not more, operate from the opposite perspective that it is never his fault no matter what happens and no matter how he plays

I am not necessarily accusing you of being one such person but if you believe honestly that Dak was "above average" last night with 175 yards passing and an 84.8 rating then I don't know what to tell you other than your perspective is clouding your judgment

This is where we always end up. His fans find 'Dak sucks' comments around every corner.....and if they aren't there they'll turn anything 'negative' as an attack on their god.
The Defense lost the game and it's not just the points it's, in part, because Dak is best with a lead, playing as come back isn't his forte.

Dak had some bad plays, if you like him they where out of character if you don't they were normal Dak... either way your LOS got raped, you don't win NFL games getting manhandled like that especially when the other HC is a student of "I'll run it again"... you had the broadcast team calling the Giants offense the 90's Cowboys...

Did Dak allow the Giants to score on their first possesion of the 2nd half? I mean...Dak and the offense had several positive plays. I am watching the defense and all I saw was the Giants offense having their way play after play after play after play...........

Obviously no that was on the defense

But when we had the first possession of the first half what did we do with it? We had a chance to go out and set the tone right? What happened?

3 and out, that's what happened. So I'll pose the counter question to you. Did our defense produce a three and out and a quick punt to open the game and set the tone?

Again, politely but firmly, your perspective is that this is never Dak's fault. And that perspective is going to Cloud your analysis whether you admitted or not.

You lost any pretense of subjectivity when you declared Dak to be "above average" in last night's game
He sucked. The defense sucked too. Let's move on
