What's wrong, in a nutshell

Is the scheme horrible? Or is it just that it's not fully clicking yet and we have insufficient player personnel to fix it?

I genuinely don't know after just one week.

schemes are dead, you play to the players not the scheme.

silliness.

you think Harbaugh said "try making Dart do plays he doesnt do well, lets go wtih that"

no he said "YOU GET HIM THE PLAYS HE DOES AND THROW TO WHOS OPEN"

The Giants have Cam Skateboo and we don't. Biggest difference in the game. That dude is a beast.

I'm not throwing in the towel, I'm stating what I feel.is the problem. The problem is he don't have a true HC and a DC that needs a true HC to provide direction and a swift kick in the azz when needed
Sorry, wasn’t talking about you. I know you’re not.

Ah okay, schemes are dead now.

There were only 3 players on defense from last year. Defensive coaches are all new. Everyone said it would take time to jell.
Hmmmm

Cowboys defense dominating Rams. Their biggest play was a 12 yard out. This is great news that some won’t get it because many don’t think training camp and preseason counts. This scrimmage counted for a lot. The Cowboys showing that they aren’t the same defense as last year.

Scheme was bad, no containment is an easy way to see that. If it happened a couple of times, it's on the players, but it happened all night and wasn't fixed

RELAX
Week 1.

Regroup and see what happens next week.
If more of the same, then yes, time to be concerned it could be a very long season. Then we don't even get the draft pick.
Hope GB has a very bad season. But then we don't get that one instead, if theirs is worse than ours.

But GB looked like they knew what they were doing most of the game. But they returned their coaching staff, or most of them.

Well the fact that I have evidence to actually support my point - the fact that the defense was terrible last year and this year - suggests I'm right
No, to different HCs one that was not good and one that has a lot to learn. You didn't see the lack of contaiin....that's an easy way to see it. It was not fixed, that's a scheme issue, if players were there and couldn't make.the play, that's the players. At the end of the day, no matter who's fault it was, a true HC is in the office right now with Parker. I hope Schotty is

If Schotty needs to be tougher, then he is not fine. Schotty is a players coach, and if he wasn't, he wouldn't be HC of the Dallas Cowboys.
It's delicate these days with today's soft, oversensitive players. Gotta find a balance.

I see what you're saying. Maybe I'm wording this incorrectly-- but it felt more like the gameplan was inherently bad/shortsighted or the players are monumentally stupid.

But the responsibilities looked absent in contain, and I agree that probably reflects the gameplan primarily.

I wouldn't say that's 'scheme' though. Maybe it is, but I've seen Fangio defenses in the past well suited to this. I would say the concerning thing was they were facing a Hurts-esque QB that we appeared entirely unready for despite CP seeing Hurts in practice for a couple of years.

We don't have a HC. We have an OC in Schotty and a inexperienced DC. No HC to provide a crutch, to sit in the film room with him, help him with a gameplan acting as devil's advocate and providing insight from years of experience. No HC to sit in on position meetings, blowing the whistle at practice and ripping their azz!!!!
A real HC like Tom, Jimmy, Parcells etc is what we needed, someone that would have gone ballistic after that stupid taunting penalty......JERRY is oblivious to common sense.
Damn, gonna take a couple of pain killers and chill out.
We all know what is wrong in a nut shell. We talk ourselves into things being different every year because we crave a contending team because it’s been so freaking long.

It’s drafting and coaching.

Could have had Sean Payton hired Garrett.

Could have had TJ watt took Taco
Could have had Rodriguez took Malachi
Could have had Brian branch took Mazi

It’s a disaster. We don’t value tough smart football players. We go after size and seem to lock in on guys who don’t have intangibles.

The scheme as a whole isn’t bad…I think but too early to say. All schemes have pros and cons. The bigger issue is the lack of execution of basic fundamentals and lack of in game adjustments.

No scheme will survive those issues and both of those items are concerning even for week 1.

That’s what happens when you don’t play in the preseason, the first couple of games are like, almost worse than preseason no practice in real time
Giant put the ball on the ground four times
Dropped two interceptions
Didn’t expect it to be that bad,
The good, the bad, and the extreme ugly
17 games, concerned a little bit, but not really
I really hate this attitude that preason games can be skipped and this happens every year. Especially having a new defense. Offense always has "rust." Why won't this team actually be all in and stop with the lip service.
